  • I voted no, only because I believe the Warning must come first, before the Great Chastisement.

I don't pretend to know how much time will elapse between the Warning and the Chastisement, so I voted not in 2017, because I don't really think the two will happen in the same calendar year.

But, I do believe there is a VERY real possibility that the Warning will happen in 2017.

Ah, the warning is just Garabandal/Medjugorje nonsense, probably trying to lull people into complacency that they'll get some kind of warning before it all happens, rather than encouraging people to remain prepared regardless of when it might happen.

I don't believe the Warning lulls people into complacency. I believe God would warn His people to give them a chance to convert before He chastises them. Many people will perish in the Chastitsement. Wouldn't it make sense to give them a chance to turn back to Him before He does it? The Warning would be a great mercy, in that sense.

  • God is warning us each day of our life right now.  Just look at the news and see how many people die unexpectedly, killed, murdered by evil deeds.  What about those people why weren't they warned that today would be their last day. Or maybe in the last seconds of their life they were given the necessary graces to choose.  We don't know the mind of God in those matters, nor do we know when God will say ... enough is enough!  If someone tells you this is the year of the great chastisement pay no mind to them.  We are all in this boat together and when we see the tragedy happening right now to others we are warned; that tomorrow might not be for us.

The Bible tells us that we should always live as if today is our last day.

I believe that when we pray for each other God will warn those we pray for as well as those who in their charity are praying for even their enemies.  Pray for people you don't care for as well as people you do care for.  That is the Will of God.

Pay no mind to false apparitions they will only bring you to despair.

    Please pray for my soul.

  • By "Great Chastisement", I assume you mean WWII, followed immediately by the Three Days of Darkness.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

Sure.  Why not?  This year, more than others, seems a good candidate.

No, a Warning would not lull people into complacency, but the prediction of a Warning does.

Oh, you're going to die, but, 3 days before you die, you'll receive a warning.  So sin boldly and you'll have a chance to confess and get right with God before you die.

Since Vatican II, maybe 1% of Catholics live a Catholic life, everyone else has gone to hell or are going to hell, the chastisement is already here and has been since Vatican II. Vatican II is the chastisement:

The chosen chastisement for our times is no noticeable chastisement. God has abandoned even Catholics to their own desires, even to the point of providing them with clergy that confirm them in whatever sin they desire. Scarcely can you find a Catholic that thinks anything but that we are living in the best of times. Truly we are living in the time described in 2 Timothy:

    Quote
For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears (2 Tim 4:3)

Saint John Eudes  wrote in "The Priest, His Dignity and Obligations":

    Quote
“The most evident mark of God’s anger and the most terrible castigation He can inflict upon the world are manifested when He permits His people to fall into the hands of clergy who are priests more in name than in deed, priests who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than charity and affection of devoted shepherds ...

“When God permits such things, it is a very positive proof that He is thoroughly angry with His people, and is visiting His most dreadful anger upon them. That is why He cries unceasingly to Christians, ‘Return O ye revolting children ... and I will give you pastors according to My own heart’. (Jer. 3:14,15) Thus, irregularities in the lives of priests constitute a scourge upon the people in consequence of sin.”

Good Catholics get what they pray for.

Catholics who are indifferent, CINO, and fallen away, get what they desire, AS A PUNISHMENT. We have bad clergy today because that is what 99% of Catholics wanted. They wanted priests who let them do and believe whatever they wanted to. That is what they got! What they consider to be great, is in reality A CHATISEMENT from God.

God's worst chastisement is no chastisement, the people are left to do as they please, God has given them up to their desires, and even provided blind guides to confirm them in whatever sin they desire.

    Quote
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and injustice of those men that detain the truth of God in injustice:

19 Because that which is known of God is manifest in them. For God hath manifested it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him, from the creation of the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made; his eternal power also, and divinity: so that they are inexcusable.

21 Because that, when they knew God, they have not glorified him as God, or given thanks; but became vain in their thoughts, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 For professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

23 And they changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of the image of a corruptible man, and of birds, and of four footed beasts, and of creeping things.

24 Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves.

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature.

27 And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.

    28 And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers,

30 Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy.

32 Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them
    (Romans 1:18-32)

i said Yes only b/c I tend to think so rather than think not. But really, I don't know if such is knowable..? at least not by most humans?

I think there are some exaggerations going on here. One poster said something to the effect that 99% of Catholics (so called) are going to Hell.

Well, i believe the % is high but i dont know about 99%. Then again... it does seem like 99%.. yes, i have to grant him/her that..

one thing is for sure: most people Catholic or o/wise tend to think virtually everyone is going to Heaven.. shows what they know about God

somehwere in the Bible it says that God's eyes are too pure to look upon sin. Well, He must not be looking upon us then...

Hope you are still with us nctradcath, we need all the trads left to fight the good fight. I didn't vote because as Nadir said, 'where is the don't-know choice.' The only heavenly sign I know will happen is that of Revelation 12:1

12 And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars:

This will occur when a combination of stars and planets (wandering stars) will happen in 2017 in the time of Virgo (when the constellation Virgo is in line with the sun as viewed from earth)

So many of my trad friends died over the last 20 years all waiting for the 'chastisement' that never came. I have come to accept most of us 'oldies' will follow them without seeing anything happen as predicted. The only prophesy I know will happen (after a few of us have gone) is that Our Lady's 'immaculate heart will triumph.'

I also agree with those who say there is already a chastisement afoot, that reformation called Vatican II. Trouble is the only ones who recognise it as the worse possible chastisement are those who kept the Catholic faith of our Fathers, while the majority went along with it as a 'celebration.' We are the only ones plunged into disbelief of all we have seen, doctrine modernised, the Mass turned Protestant, churches vandalised, priests and nuns disappearing off the face of the earth and worse of all a series of popes 'loved by all the world.' What greater chastisement could top that?

If there were to be some sort of chastisement like the Flood of Noah, many trads would see it as a means to convert millions and thus welcome it as a 'Great Conversion.'.
