I love reading his quotes, what about this one

For a creative writer possession of the "truth" is less important than emotional sincerity.

  • Some prevailing orthodoxies are good...  Well, one is.

Where we are now is worse than 1984.  The devil turned out to be much more subtle than just setting up an oppressive police state.  By getting inside the Church and mucking with the Magisterium we really have no idea what the truth is.  My brain is just about fried trying to figure out NFP, and that is just one issue.

The temptation is to relax and say, "God worked a miracle, the Holy Ghost is still protecting the Magisterium!"  But I just can't make myself believe it.  And if the recent Popes are false, then it's possible that there are mistakes even before they appeared.  Where does it stop?  Why are sedes so SURE, even you, Dawn, that Pius XII was the last Pope?  I used to like him but there are undeniable problems in his writings.

I would like to just relax and "trust the priests," putting it all in their hands, but they treat Pius XII like a saint, not seeing one single problem with him ( except SSPV, who reject the 1955 Holy Week changes ) not to mention some of them are apparently neo-cons, and I know all of this is wrong.  So it appears that I see things the priests don't see.  And the problem with that is that it's like I am destined to go the route of CM and become my own authority.

Once you aren't following someone else, you are following yourself.  Because of that danger, maybe it's better to just recognize-and-resist like Attila Guimares.  But then if you follow the Magisterium of Vatican II you might go to a Mass where the Eucharist isn't consecrated, so we're back to sedevacantism...  Does that end our problem?  Nope.  Because once you talk about five anti-Popes in a row, there is really nothing inherently ridiculous about the idea of six or seven or ten anti-Popes in a row.  Especially when there are glaring problems with certain pre-VII papacies, although in my belief they don't engage infallibility, they are mostly about political opinions, decisions of policy ( Leo XIII not excommunicating Cardinal Gibbons despite his open and shameless flouting of authority, for one, or Pius XI and the Cristeros ).  So I am put in the position of sifting and trying to figure out when the Church first got invaded, becoming in effect, as the canard goes, my own Pope.

Sorry, just thinking out loud here.  I'm a tormented man.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • I like his quotes as well Myrna. Did you ever see the writings between Orwell and Huxley of a Brave New World?

Rauol, I understand your questions.I will send you a private message and we can discuss there about Pius XII.

Again I repeat what my priest says, Stick with Pius IX and X for questions. You are right you would just keep going otherwise and there would be no end. I am sure by now David Landry has even denounce poor St. Peter. It will drive you mad only if you let it.

  • Dear Raoul, nothing you have ever said touched me like that did.  We are all tormented by these things UNTIL we give up wrestling with the devil and focus on God.  That statement is actually over simplified.  All I can really say is you have to find your way to God and not worry that these things can divert you if you don't want them to.  Enclose yourself in Him.

  • Dawn, I really love reading quotes, some of them really say so much in just a few words.

This one here is appropriate for all of us.

Be not angry that you cannot make others as you wish them to be, since you cannot make yourself as you wish to be.  ~Thomas à Kempis, Imitation of Christ, c.1420

    Please pray for my soul.

  • Here are a couple of good quotes from St. Thomas Aquinas, the "Angelic Doctor":

    Quote
"I answer that, as stated above (A.3, Reply Obj. 2), from the very fact that a man thinks ill of another without sufficient cause, he injures and despises him. Now no man ought to despise or in any way injure another man without urgent cause: and consequently, unless we have evident indications of a person's wickedness, we ought to deem him good, by interpreting for the best whatever is doubtful about him." (Summa Theologica, Part II-II, Q.60, article 4)

    Quote
"He who interprets doubtful matters for the best, may happen to be deceived more often than not; yet it is better to err frequently through thinking well of a wicked man, than to err less frequently through having an evil opinion of a good man, because in the latter case an injury is inflicted, but not in the former." (Summa Theologica, Part II-II, Q. 60, article 4, Reply Obj. 1)
