I would recommend reading the Gospels this Lent, and in particular I'd recommend the Gospel of St. Matthew.
(Yes, I know, I'm biased!)
http://www.drbo.org/chapter/47001.htmAlthough my favorite Gospel is St. Matthew for various (and obvious) reasons, I also like St. Luke for its Marian details, and St. John for its considerable unique content.
There really is no substitute for the Holy Ghost's version of the life of Our Lord when it comes to spiritual reading. What better way to prepare for Easter, than to get to know Our Lord and His teaching a bit better?
"Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ."
Maybe if you're older and/or you've done this a few times, I'd recommend something with a more in-depth commentary -- or perhaps some approved mystical works like the "Mystical City of God" or "The Life of Jesus Christ and Biblical Revelations" by Anne Catherine Emmerich -- especially Volume 3, which is also known as "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ"
