  • Hello everybody!
I am new at the forum. I am a 21-year-old cradle catholic from Sweden. I did not start to take my faith seriously until about a year ago. And it seems I am just getting more and more CATHOLIC by each day, as I learn more and more about the faith. And there is A LOT for me to learn!

Yesterday I attended the TLM for the first time in my entire life. It was very spartanian, in a small corner of a modernist church and most people were probably as new to it as I was. But it was the MASS OF ALL TIME, and a true blessing to attend it!

In Sweden there are not so many catholics and no real opportunity to actually study the faith at  a university. I mean like philosophy, theology, church history, latin and so on.

Can anyone recommend a good catholic university that actually has true catholic teaching and values? Preferably in Euroupe, UK for example, but any suggestions are welcome!

    Thanks!

I do not know if there is traditionalist university that is really worthy of the name.

    I suspect not.

They are truly scuм.  Deceitful parasites on believers whose interest in the religion is to discredit it for their academic job.

  • Vatican II sure did give a lot of opportunities for rebuilding our Catholc faith.

Unless someone is a big fan of disintegration, I can't think of anything good about Vatican II.

The Catholic Colleges will need to be built from scratch because the current crop are novus ordites - which may be necessary to reclassify as a new religion under a new name.  It doesn't feel right calling the novus ordite church service a mass.  And the priests are now presiders.

I'm reading "Tumultous Times" by the two Fr. Radecki's and they mentioned that for several decades after Luther's posting of the 95 thesis there were bonafide lutheran churches calling themselves Catholic.  Maybe vatican II needs to be seen as a major fractioning (the final fractioning) of Christendom.

Vatican II should be recognized as the New Pentecost that it was fully intented to be by the concilliar fathers.  It's their pentecost so we need to recognize that.

So, what should the name be for this new church?

Novus Ordite is what we call them but we should think of some good names.

    Paulines?

    John Paul's?

Montinian?  Imagine hearing an announcement, "Brenda and Bob will announce their devotion to one another at St. Bishop Fulton, the Montinian Church of LuLuLand, OH this Friday.  Services will be at 2 pm with a celebration afterwards."

Concilliar is an excellent name.  And very befitting.

Can anyone else think of any cool names for the new church?  It's confusing to the uninformed out there to refer to both pre-Vat II and post-Vat II as "Catholic".

  • There are Lutheran Churches whose bishops have claim to apostolic succession. There are a few in Chicago.

Aggee--welcome!  Where are you from?  My people are from Malmo.

  • There are no 'trad' universities as such, as any college/Univ would need significant funding, andyou don't get that without a wealthy benefactor (Ave Maria Univ, which is 'conservative' NO) or the 'vacuum cleaner' of diocesan money, the latter of which would be beholdden to a NO bishop.

The closest you can come to any sort of  Catholic orthodoxy (pro-TLM, but still NO usage) is Thomas Aquinas College in Ojai/Santa Paula, California.

They've pretty consistently been giving away a single course in audio only for free. I haven't listened to any, but they're generally each a different speaker (with each "professor" only doing one or two courses), so some might be better than others.
