  • I just wanted to write a post thanking Eamon for the years of friendship and the sharing of Catholic knowledge that helped in my conversion process. Because of Eamon, I beleive that SSPX members are fully Catholic. I toyed with the idea that they may be heretics, but he showed me the proper resources which made that notion foolish. I even believe that many novus ordites are Catholic. Eamon once again lead me to this path. I toyed with the Feeny idea for about a minute. Eamon spent the time and explained to me why they are incorrect.

    God Bless,
    Andy

  • I also want to thank Hobbleboy, Caminus, Tele, Matthew, Rauol and all the posters on the forum that have helped shaped my Catholic understanding for the better.

  • I've been forbidden to give you any more posrep.

Let me just say Andy that you've always been one my favorite posters, and I know you've followed my posts from way way back - from years before I heard of cathinfo or knew about Catholic tradition.

I believe there are several here who most clearly wouldn't be where they are if it weren't for Eamon. And that doesn't count the many who have been aided by him simply by reading his posts. I think the total of his contributions online have done far more good than bad.

  • While I think that gladius_veritatis (a.k.a Eamon Shea) is a very good poster and contributes great posts to this forum, he needs to stop going on tirades and trying to rip out the intestines of anyone who defies him. His outbursts are very extreme and sometimes unwarranted.

These outbursts have kept me from developing any sense of an "e-friendship" with him that I have with other posters like SS or Telesphorus or s2srea, etc.. His outbursts worry me and I have trouble trusting that he won't lash out at me if I say anything wrong.

I personally have had my sides dug in on these forums because of my outbursts (which aren't quite as extreme as gladius') and my general lack of patience with some of the members of cathinfo. This is evidenced by how my dislikes have been going up at a staggering rate (even though the amount of likes I actually have is a few times the amount of dislikes I have). There's also the fact that people here tend to misunderstand me because of the way I come across when I post. Perhaps people think I hate everyone or that I'm uncharitable or what not, but that's really not the case. External appearances don't prove anything.

So, what's the point of me saying that? Well, if Eamon can prove that his outbursts are just the result of a misunderstanding on the parts of others, perhaps I can try to understand, as I know how it feels. At the same time, the way he posts makes me wonder. Does he really mean some of the things that he's said here? I mean, it was only a few months ago he was posting his house address on these forums, being belligerent and asking Telesphorus to come to his house for who knows what reason (I'm sure it's not good). I want to give Eamon the benefit of the doubt, but there are times when I wonder if he's really being serious and means all of the nasty, belligerent things that we all know he has the capacity of saying to people.
For those who I have unjustly offended, please forgive me. Please disregard my posts where I lacked charity and you will see that I am actually a very nice person. Disregard my opinions on "NFP", "Baptism of Desire/Blood" and the changes made to the sacra

All you can do is trust. Lest we forget, we're in internet-land. Most of the things people say here, they'd never say in real life.

It's been said that he says some of the things he does when he's drunk, but on a certain thread (I don't remember which) he said something nasty and claimed he wasn't drunk. I'm not sure of what to think about that.

As you and Andy have noted very well, I also have to thank Eamon for his wit, example and humanity, and, as someone who has known him for a very long time, I ought to say that the faults and defects wherewith he may have coinquinated himself recently are ultimately dwarfed by many past instances of edification by which I have become the writer and Catholic I am today.

I hope all who were offended by his unfortunate behavior can stir up in yourselves the charity requisite to forgive him and to pray for him.

Be assured of my perpetual friendship and prayers, dear Eamon. You have my electronic mailing address, so write to me whensoever you please.

Please ignore all that I have written regarding sedevacantism.
