  • I recently mentioned ghost towns in another thread, but since it was off topic, I couldn't post this. But there's a pretty neat site where you can go and read about ghost towns by state, and even see some pictures.

    Have fun!  :farmer:

  • If you have an interest in photography, you can get some good photos, and maybe even capture an image of a ghost.  :surprised:

If your old enough to remember there was a show on T.V. a long time ago called "In Search of"  I still remember watching a program and the producer showing an image of a ghost somone captured, It looked really weird and  the ghost was holding a paper that said, "HELP ME".   If this was not a hoax, could it have been a poor soul in Purgatory?
    Please pray for my soul.

  • In search of...you mean the show with Nemoy? that was good, he had a creepy voice to segway the shows..

My theory as well, that some "ghosts" may nto be demons, but wonder if Purgatory souls, as part punishment, have to be stuck between earth and there, a real punishment they cannot be seen and interact with others.....but be trapped, if you will - in that state...

had to peek at this one, a good show-thanks for the memories you bring back on that one, me and my dad watching that as a young'un

Earth is not and cannot be purgatory.  It seems like a purgatory to us sometimes, but THE purgatory is another place, worse and closer to hell.

Ghost stories are a way people creep themselves out over nothing when they should in fact be worrying about their souls.  Look at all the kids today watching gruesome horror movies and scaring themselves silly over the mutilation of bodies, while having no concept that they have an immortal soul which is in the clutches of Satan.

Leonard Nimoy, Kabbalah Jєω is scarier to me than the supposed ghosts.

In the past three years, the Jєωιѕн "Star Trek" icon has turned from his movie career to one of his first loves, photography. At the same time, he has intensified his study of Kabbalah.

In "Shekhina: Feminine Presence of God," an exhibit of his photos that runs through April 24 at the gallery, he attempts to combine the two.

"I find the female figure a constant search for dynamics of light and form," he says while talking about the Shechina, or the feminine aspect of God.

Nimoy, who was raised in an Orthodox home in Boston, has always been committed to Judaism. One of his earliest acting gigs was in Yiddish theater and, following his television and big-screen "Star Trek" success, he starred in several TV movies on Jєωιѕн subjects: "A Woman Named Golda," with Ingrid Bergman playing Golda Meir, and the 1991 "Never Forget," about the battle against h0Ɩ0cαųst revisionists, which he co-produced for TNT.

    Quote
Years later, already established as a pop culture figure, Nimoy began studying photography at UCLA. His works exploring Judaism and Kabbalah blend black and white, light and shadow, figures and abstraction.

Most of the book's 54 photos are of nude women, many wearing prayer shawls and teffilin. Nimoy said some of the women (one of them is his wife) are Jєωιѕн.

Don't get me started on Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan ( where Khan is obviously supposed to represent fallen Spanish Catholic power and the Star Trek guys are the triumphant Jєωs who have taken it down ).
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • no one said Purgatory= earth, but I was opining whay Myran said and I was wondering in the past-could there be a plane between earth and purgatory where people are punished as I noted earlier.

After all, some of the saints opined that Enoch and/or Elijah, awaiting their roles in Apoc ch 11 are in different plane-they have not died and been judged, hence cannot be in heaven, limbo of hte fathers is empteid, so they cannot be there still.....some stated there is a sort of paradise they are in, but obviously, no one trekked through the Congo or somewhere and "found" them-hence possible to be kept somewhere else...

can Purgatory exist in different states, some in ice, some in fire, some in darkness, some possibly in the between? that is a question......have read some books on purgatory that suggest not all are in a fire pit, but different levels if you will of purgatory.....

Nimoy is regretably not a great role model, but Myrna and I both liked the show....despite its hosts sins.....

I think yo uare way off based on Khan, I am usually good at film imagery and messages, but do not see that at all-recall the actor is Hispanic, but the character is from india area...so no references as you note.granted, I am terribly Left Brained, but still......usually excellant at movie interpretations......

  • Good post, Raoul.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • sadly, the question remains unaswered....can there be a plane where the souls in purgatory have to somehow interact with us still alive in the flesh on earth and possibly suffer due to lack of contact,etc..

raouls is right about what to watch and not, some if it is truly bad  :tv-disturbed:

and Nimoy is morally bad news, but not sure what he means in the rest....

  • Well, what we do know is that souls have interacted with living people, whom, when Masses were said for them, those interactions ceased. Do those souls DWELL here, until they are 'released'? Or do they simply appear here? Who knows.

But clearly, there are only two kinds of activity other than the heavenly kind, that we can take as reality. 1) that demons can appear to the men in this world, and 2) that souls from purgatory have been allowed to do so.

Whether those human souls STAY here (as their  "purgatory"), or whether they are simply permitted to appear here, we don't know. But when you hear from priests, or read stories of saints where souls from purgatory were permitted to appear to them, and ask them to say Masses or have Masses said, and then the contact ceases (sometimes with the soul returning to say they've gone to heaven or are going there).

So there definitely is some reality to the things we hear. Not all of them are true, but definitely, some are demonic things, and some are human souls. Those things are both facts. (Thus demonic possession, and the stories of the saints about certain souls from purgatory.)

I doubt it's widespread as hollywood would like it to be, but.... there is some truth to these things.
