  • Does anyone know how to go about getting medals made?  Is there a company that does this?

Any information is appreciated.  Thank you all and God bless you.

  • No recommendations for manufacturers, but a caveat.  One of our former FSSP priests would carefully scrutinize sacramentals. He noticed a trend of changes, some subtle, such that he thought some sacramentals were becoming ineffectual. Just as our rites have been weakened intentionally, he thought that sacramentals were being intentionally weakened. He opined that he saw this most commonly with St. Benedict medals.

  • Do you want them made or copied?  Is there a specific medal you are looking for?

  • The person who wants to know about making medals, has told me there are two medals in question.

One would be an original design - round and maybe one inch in diameter, though this could be adjusted.

The other would be a copy of an old holy medal.

The type of "metal" that  is best to use for this is also being inquired about, if anyone would know that info as well.

    Also, these are double-sided.

  • Mark79, what you said reminded me about the Miraculous Medal.  Many of them are not the very same design as Our Lady required via St. Catherine Laboure.

    You are right about accuracy.

I've only had medals copied.  A big problem is you pay for the mold and the medals then the manufacturer keeps the mold and continues to produce the medals and sells them for less than they charged you.  NO manufacturer will give you the molds but there is one in the US that will NOT sell the medals to anyone else.
I've never had one made from scratch.
I like the lead free pewter with a silver coating as it can be safely worn.
