  • Good find, Belloc!  :detective:

Here's a link to that article on Barna's own website:

    http://www.barna.org/barna-update/article/12-faithspirituality/325-barna-studies-the-research-offers-a-year-in-review-perspective

On the homepage there's more info on trends in Prot "worship communities" if anyone is interested or is like me and needs something to do on a weekday off from work.

That's why I find these studies interesting. I see the same things happening to Prots and Orthodox as to us:  mostly a refusal to follow rules and exercise obedience to one's own faith. My mother has fallen into this. She is a classic "cafeteria Catholic." To her the world's religions are a giant buffet table where one is free to belly up and pick and choose whatever looks most appetizing at that moment.

She'll get a book at the library by Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science, and devour it in one sitting, but give her a book about one of the Saints and it will just gather dust.

dad is more open to guilds or unions as part of labors self-defense, but beleives that National Socialism, Roman EMpire or any such big Govt, pwoer mad is fine..........big Americanist pro-military and por-war.......

suffice to say, to avoid arguements-whiuch anymore I try to do, is a chore........no longer try to argue with a door on the floor to paraphrase Bishop Williamson........

  • True, Belloc. Rational argument is wasted on most people as they no longer have the ability to think. All information must be attractively packaged in a 15-second sound bite. Further investigation is almost totally unknown.
