The more I try to research Garabandal, the more confused I become. Sources I respect say Our Lady did appear there; and other sources I also respect say it was a fraud. I searched cathinfo and garabandal on startpage and the first item to pop up was the splc, help!

As far as is know it is still officially disputed. I think the behavior of the girls is suspicious so I choose to ignore it and focus on the approved apparitions instead.

Joey died blind when supposedly Mary promised he would see again. He died of old age, his eyes still just as blind as they were during the Garabandal scheme.
The backwards walking motion of the girls seemed bent and freakish, not holy.

So what is splc?
There's lots of stuff on Garabandal on the forum, so why such a negative response to the first that came up.
I've heard the backward walking and other strange phenomena is a sign of demonic involvement. Why bother with a so-called apparition that has not been approved, especially if you are becoming more confused? Excellent reason to give it a miss.

Archbishop Lefebvre advised us that the Mass is the most important and Rosary.

The splc is the southern poverty law center, an anti-Catholic hate group that pretends to be an anti-hate group. I thought it odd that this anti-Catholic group would come up first.
Yes, you are right. I am passing on this.

When I was a Modernist Catholic, I was given a rosary with a "relic" in it of a supposed missal which the Blessed Virgin supposedly kissed.
But, I put this in the same category of the "apparitions" of Medjugorje. so...
Pax.
