On Sunday, June 23 the Syrian priest François Murad was killed in Gassanieh, in northern Syria, in the convent of the Custody of the Holy Land where he had taken refuge. This is confirmed by a statement of the Custos of the Holy Land sent to Fides Agency. The circuмstances of the death are not fully understood. According to local sources, the monastery where Fr. Murad was staying was attacked by militants linked to the jihadi group Jabhat al-Nusra.
Father François, 49, had taken the first steps in the religious life with the Franciscan Friars of the Custody of the Holy Land, and with them he continued to share close bonds of spiritual friendship. After being ordained a priest he had started the construction of a coenobitic monastery dedicated to St. Simon Stylites in the village of Gassanieh.After the start of the cινιℓ ωαr, the monastery of St. Simon had been bombed and Fr. Murad had moved to the convent of the Custody for safety reasons and to give support to the remaining few, along with another religious and nuns of the Rosary.
"Let us pray," writes the Custos of the Holy Land Pierbattista Pizzaballa OFM " so that this absurd and shameful war ends soon and that the people of Syria can go back to living a normal life." Archbishop Jacques Behnan Hindo, titular of the Syrian Catholic archeparchy in Hassaké-Nisibis reports to Fides: "The whole story of Christians in the Middle East is marked and made fruitful by the blood of the martyrs of many persecutions. Lately, father Murad sent me some messages that clearly showed how conscious he was of living in a dangerous situation, and offered his life for peace in Syria and around the world. " .

I know that that is the Arabic word for God, but perhaps you should be a little more careful about giving the wrong impression.

Islamo-fascist is a neo-con word used to heighten the senses about the supposed "threat" of terrorism. There is no such thing as "Islamo-fascism." Obviously there have been atrocities on both sides, the main reason we need to stay out.

The video and the news reporting on it at all must somehow be useful to a certain people, otherwise it wouldn't be in the media at all. Christians are murdered all the time, and you hear nothing of it, no coverage. So, 'those people' must want to leverage it for some purpose. Perhaps gain popular support for military intervention in Syria.

Ah, so you would have preferred the thread to be titled, "Franciscan Monk Beheaded by Fanatical Practitioners of the Peaceful Religion of Islam"?

I thought it relevant because it is a video tape of a Catholic martyrdom.  When in church history has there been the opportunity for so many souls to receive graces by witnessing this holy death?  What will happen to his relics?

I'm not interested in the political aspects.  This is a spiritual war between the enemies of Christ and His Church.

Correction:  

These are not "IslamoFascists."  Don't be stupid.  

These are Mohammedans.  Read your history books.

Mohammedans have been doing this since the 7th century.

And their forebears did it before them.

God forgive these evil men; Fr. Murad is with Our Lord and Our Lady, and with all the angels and saints.  I'll have nightmares about this, but felt compelled to watch it.  All Catholics may be called to make the same sacrifice sooner than we think.  This used to be "normal."

What do you mean it USED to be "normal?"  

It is OBVIOUSLY very normal for everyone in the video.  

The only thing missing is the street vendors with popcorn and
hot-dogs-wrapped-in-bacon.  

There are children walking around smiling, and bystanders
grinning from all sides in close proximity. This is not out of
the ordinary at all.  It may not happen EVERY day, but once
or twice a week?  No problem!  

Who needs a battle ax or a guillotine?  Who needs a rusty
old rip saw or tree trimming blade?  Why bother with piano
wire and concrete blocks tied from a tree?  Just whip out
the old kitchen knife -- doesn't have to be sharp, even.


A little more elbow grease and it's all she wrote!


This is who Mohammedans are.  They look forward to the
next opportunity.

What is the cause of this video being online?  

Last week the Supreme Court of the United States
(SCOTUS) ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act is
"unconstitutional."

It is a formal, deliberate attack on the sanctity of Marriage.

And so, as a consequence, there are now beheadings of
Catholics.  

It's too bad the victims are not the correct ones.  

In God's justice, for a time, the victims would seem to be
opposite what they should be, e.g., the Crucifixion.

But make no mistake about it.  

In 1973, the SCOTUS ruled in Roe vs. Wade and as a
consequence some 80 million babies have been sacrificed
to the devil-god Moloch.  An innocent child is a most
delicious delicacy for the devil's voracious appetite for
souls.

And now, as the SCOTUS persists in its pernicious and
diabolical trend, there are beheadings of the faithful
remnant who would oppose such vile and evil rulings.

Show me one child who was ever in favor of his own being
aborted in the womb.

Anybody who cannot watch this video really ought to think
about that fact when they think about abortion, because
it's the same thing.  Abortions cut up bodies too, and
usually a lot more than a mere removal of its head.
