  • "Set thou the sinner over him: and may the devil stand at his right hand.
When he is judged, may he go out condemned; and may his prayer be turned to sin.
May his days be few: and his bishopric let another take."
    [ Psalm 108:6-8 ]

St. Francis de Sales quotes that in his The Catholic Controversy p. 306, where he thinks Honorius might have been a heretic and says that when a pope
Quote from: St. Francis de Sales
is explicitly a heretic, he falls ipso facto from his dignity and out of the Church, and the Church must either deprive him, or, as some say, declare him deprived, of his Apostolic See, and must say as S. Peter did: Let another take his bishopric [St. Paul quoting that Psalm in Acts 1]

  • .

According to the released notes on the Third Secret of Fatima, a bishop in white will be climbing a hill, stepping over the corpses of his brethren who have fallen in a half-ruined city, only to be shot by soldiers with bullets and arrows as he falls before a rough cross as if it were made from corkwood.

What kind of soldiers are they who use both guns and archery bows?

But going without the Popemobile in the Middle East? Is he daft?

I really think that he's just so convinced of his own humbleness and amiability that he thinks "Who could possibly think about attacking someone like moi?"

Seriously, it just takes one nutjob with an ideological obsession (or even obsession with Jodie Foster), and we know that there aren't any of those in Israel.

  • More humility right?
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect. (Matthew 24:24)

I saw a story yesterday where he refused the Popemobile for his trip to the Middle East and will be riding out in the open.

I could see him being shot and killed in Jerusalem. ...

and then rising from the dead for the world to see.

If he does that maybe you should follow him.

I have nothing personal against Francis. It's the lack of Catholicism he espouses that I don't like. Hope he gets better.

Certainly it should not be personal on our part, but his un-Catholic behavior and making common cause with his Master's enemies is indeed distressing.

Making common cause is a tool of evangelization. Pope Pius XII did that during World War II and the chief rabbi of Rome converted to the Catholic Faith.

Yeah, then everyone will be shouting Santo subito. Then we'd have to hear about the great pope and martyr Francis.

If you die for the Catholic Faith that's what you are, a martyr.

Maybe he can convert -- just in time to be martyred.

If we all pray for his conversion, why would such a result not be possible?

    "Everything is possible with God"
    (Matt. xix. 26).
