  • I watched part of this on EWTN and noticed a few things, just some observations that I wanted to pass along.

They did do some parts of the Mass in Latin.  Gloria, Credo, Pater Noster, etc.

In the Italian Canon the words of consecration over the wine are still "for all" (per tutti), unlike in English where it's been changed back to "for many".

During the distribution of Communion, the vast majority still received the tongue (albeit standing up of course).  What was strange, however, is that, depending on which priest was distributing, that pattern changed.  Most priests who distributed both ways would still see 99% on the tongue.  But there were one or two priests who were distributing mostly in the hand.  Perhaps there were "sections" out there for various nationalities, and the hand crowd perhaps represented the Americans.  I actually saw one priest who, when a guy came up holding his hands out, still put the host on his tongue (guy looked surprised and had to retract his hands).  So that was an interesting dynamic to watch.

Many people did seem very devout in the reception of Communion and appeared to be praying devoutly and silently for a very long time after reception.
