  • This was a little too close to home. The fire was literally down the street from me. With the wind that was blowing I was pretty scared for a while. Old Orchard Beach got it worse...that is about half mile down the road from me. The campground had 5 buildings involved and a bunch of propane tanks blew...I heard one of the explosions. I have seen pics and video of helo air drops from California...but I never thought I would see one so close to my house!

The fire was caused when a train came by. It set brush fires from Old Orchard Beach to Biddeford which is several miles. The first one is an aerial shot of the fire from a plane and the rest of the photos are mine...

This last one was taken right across the street from my house to show how close the helo was dropping water...

  • To give you an example of how bad this was, Old Orchard went to 5 alarms and every fire department within 40 miles responded to this.
