  • Is there any backlash now that it has been exposed that the NY
    Archdiocese actually pays for abortions?

"The archdiocese agreed to cover its own health workers long before Cardinal Dolan became archbishop of New York, and even today insists that it has no choice. As a result, about 3,000 full-time workers at ArchCare, also known as the Catholic Health Care System, receive coverage for contraception and voluntary pregnancy termination through their membership in 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, a powerful health care workers union, according to Dave Bates, a spokesman for the union. "

  • No!  In fact, so do the surrounding diocese of Brooklyn and Rockville Center.  They pay for contraception as well.  It has been going on "unofficially" for years.  Obstensively, these services are for non-Catholic employees.  Catholics are expected to refrain from taking advantage of the immoral services they pay for, just as if one is the employee of a secular firm where there is no choice except to decline employer-based insurance and pay out-oof-pocket.  But how many can afford this?  Catholic fathers are going to have to make some no-win decisions in the near future as ObamaCare is implemented.  One can cooperate materially by accepting the plan but not the actual services, or one can pay the fine, oops!  I mean "tax."  But if, for example, a child does not receive the recommended medical care as a result, CPS can legally take the children away.  Welcome to the 'normal' state of the most Christians for most of the world, most of the time.  When Christ returns, the faithful will indeed be few in number.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

I would not be surprised if this is true. You cannot trust the conciliar church to act Catholic.

  • Frances:  The New Order pays and supports abortion and etc. through the campaign for "human development" and catholic charities is really united way supporting march of dimes, domestic violence(with Planned Parenthood hiding there) just to mention a few, but there are so many more.

When we had the Welfare Reform implemented in the 90's, it was for the uninsured also known as TANF.  It was the new order who implemented it.  It had a "Kid Cap".  In order to receive benefits from food stamps to a job and etc. no one was to be pregnant or the benefits would change. So, Planned Parenthood were in the new order churches halls with their plastic wombs with IUD's and pamphlets.  It was witnessed at one church where prescriptions for birth control were written out.

  • There will be no backlash.  This has been going on for years.  By law, if the diocese offers medical insurance then they have to offer coverage for birth control, including sterilization.  Abortions are also covered under most of these plans.  A person can "opt" out, but they must be offered to all.

  • Not being part of the NO I had no idea these things were going on in insurance plans they provided.  I wonder if the average pew-sitters know about it?

  • Has Cardinal Dolan said anything about it at all?  I have seen nothing from him.  If he does speak about it, I am sure he will still manage to display that smarmy smile that makes me want to....well...best not to finish that sentence.   :really-mad2:
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

Most of them know it and are supportive.  They believe the same.  If you don't want to use contraception, then don't.  But don't "punish" those who do.

It's truly a horrific state of affairs in the NO.  I know this is true because I have had many a discussion with people in NO.  Truly sad and frightening.

Souls are being lost daily and at a rapid pace.  If you know anyone still there, up your prayers that they find a way out.

No, that isn't TANF at all. TANF is cash assistance. They change was made from AFDC to TANF with subsidized daycare, job search, attending a program or school, and mandatory cooperation with child support enforcement.

Medicaid is medical assistance, and different states have different names for it. If someone qualifies for TANF, they will qualify for Medicaid too. It's not the other way around though. TANF is not Medicaid for the uninsured.

There is and was no requirement not to be pregnant to receive food stamps.

All states and their health departments push contraception.

  •   AZ had Title IV-A  TANF revisions Jan 1998.  It had under jobs the Kid Cap.  Goals under TANF were to reduce pregnancies by use of organizations of the gov't and it was our dioceses here that supported and paid funds to AHCCS Arizona Health CAre Cost Containment System via "Baby Arizona" which was advertised in the Catholic Sun newspaper, at St. Vincent De Paul Center, March of Dimes in the Catholic Charities.
Under TANF under JOBS Program R6-12-203 Initial Eligibility Requires Family planning services available through AHCCCS health plan.

The new order was there in the pilot program with primary goal, reduce pregnancy. And that would include abortion.

The Welfare Reform was not much in difference.  The aims are to reduce pregnancy and are hidden or not so hidden.

  • I knew a young lady who needed TANF and she told me that she had to take on a birth control (she was single/no children).  I told her to take a birth control pill prescription and throw the pills out.  Take no shot of Depoprvera.

I think you may be mistaken here. If she had no children, she would not be qualified for TANF, they would not even process her application. TANF is for those with children under 18 or those who have custody of children under 18.
