Pope Francis has announced the convocation of the third Vatican Ecuмenical Council, slated to start in March of next year.

The council will mark a significant moment in the history of the Catholic Church, with the Pope announcing that the council will discuss specific issues within the Church's life and teaching, focusing primarily on the pastoral challenges of the 21st century.

At the council, an attendance of over 800 bishops, and many more theologians from the Eastern, Latin and Western churches is expected. The council will be held in Vatican City, like its two most recent predecessors.

The Ecuмenical Council will be the first time the Catholic Church has convened a global council since the council for the reform of the Second Vatican Council in 1960.

Pope Francis confirmed the council's opening day on March 10 but gave no further details about it until a letter last December to the Holy See's Secretariat of State by the leader of the Council, Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, who will be 75 before the council...

The above seems like a fairly shoddily written attempt at fake news, but the thing is, it was actually written by a bot. I just entered in the first sentence(the bolded bit) to test it, and the bot generated the rest. I entered it again, and got this:

Pope Francis has announced the convocation of the third Vatican Ecuмenical Council, slated to start in March of next year. The Council is set to consist of the four largest churches, and to take place at the Vatican.

"The Holy Synod of Bishops of the world has chosen the date for the convening of the Third General Assembly of the Council. We are delighted to have this day to gather so quickly, but also concerned by its imminent date," Francis said. He added that his predecessors had postponed the Council "to safeguard the work of the Church in her mission and to ensure the unity of the world's Christians."

Francis also announced the formation of a Pontifical Council on Care for the Common Good (Pontifical Council for Peace and Justice), which will be headed by Cardinal Walter Kasper of Vienna. It will consist of representatives from a number of Catholic churches, Catholic schools, and the Roman Curia.

It aims to promote justice and reconciliation, to support development in the world, as well as to promote peace, justice and the common good. It will work in a collaborative way among all of these institutions, according to a statement from the Pre...
It's not perfect, and often gets details wrong or what have you, but it's a shockingly good(or well, bad, seeing as it's fake news) proof-of-concept. Just by one sentence where I mention the Pope and Vatican, it can generate so much total BS text that is both relevant and sounds like it was ripped straight from a real article on the Church - buzz words and all.

It's even better for more mundane topics, like Trump and taxes. Give it a few goes if you're bored, you'll be shocked at the quality of fake news that they can generate, and this is just an early alpha!
