  • There are a few of us here who see the v2 'church'  as a schism and the v2 popes in fact as anti- popes.
There Is No Such Thing As 'Sede Vacantism'...
nor is there such thing as a 'Feeneyite' or 'Feeneyism'

  • Just to clarify --

There are indeed a few sedevacantists here. But this is NOT a sedevacantist board. They are allowed; they don't run the place.

In fact, everyone, sedes included, are required to argue about sedevacantism in a particular sub-forum ("Crisis in the Church"), so everyone doesn't have to hear it.

  • And I was just wondering as the original post seems ambiguous in that respect.

  • Is there any ambiguity about who is meant by "disobedient to their pope"?

The ambiguity is deliberate as I did not wish to offend. Coming back after 20 years, I walk a tightrope between two extremes. Knowing how easily I walked into Protestant fundamentalism, I could just as easily walk in Catholic fundamentalism.
    If that offends, well..... :sign-surrender:

  • I didn't think that JustaServant's post was very ambiguous.

My post (above) was in reaction to Roscoe's post. I just wanted to mention that, despite what some might think, this is NOT another sedevacantist board. I am the owner of this board, and its sole moderator, and I adhere to the SSPX's position on the current Church crisis.

EVEN IF there were 15 sedes and only 5 non-sedes, it wouldn't be a sede board because I could still moderate the 15.

See what I'm saying? It's all about who owns/runs the board, and who the moderators are. They determine the direction of the board, who is welcome, what is discussed, etc.

If this were Wikipedia, then there would be strength in numbers.

  • The second poster's reference to antipopes brought in the "sede" question.

But "disobedient to their pope" in the original post would seem to have to do not with the universal whipping boys, the so-called sedes, but with the SSPX position.

  • Most folks get offended when it is suggested that they are inner enemies of the Church. No "if" about it.

  • I am still unclear as to whether or not JustaServant accepts the v2 'popes' or the v2 'council' as legitimate. Ciao

  • I liked Justaservant's previous posts (what I've read). They had the degree of humility appropriate for someone who's been clearly outside the Chruch for 20 years. This, well, doesn't.

I'd like to hear the definition of a Catholic fundamentalist.

Roscoe, I think you might need to wipe the smudges off your screen if you're uncertain as to his position on the legitimacy of Pope Benedict.

    Quote from: JustaServant
I would like to see more Latin in the Mass, but I have nothing against the Norvus Ordo. I am under the authority of the Church and the Pope, who have upheld the doctrine for 2000 years.
On the other hand I will not be part of a schismatic group just because I am conservative and prefer some Latin in the Mass. For what would be the purpose of returning to the Catholic Church only to join with a group that has disobeyed their Pope? That is not conservative, that displays as much disobedience as the Protestant reformers did.
The Catholic Church is 2000 years old, and the gates of Hell will never prevail against her. As I find my way back into her arms, I will defend her against enemies both within and without.

I trust that clears up any confusion!

  • JustaServant has said that the ambiguity is deliberate so I am still unclear. I also would like to know what a Catholic fundamentalist is; maybe that would clear things up. Don't be afraid of offending anyone--we are adults here.
