I'm in the mood for bumping some good, Necro threads today. Here's a good topic. I wont bump the thread itself, as I'd like to see where it goes on its own. I'll post the OP's questions here though:

Let's try this from a different direction.

Is Feminism Catholic or not?

If it isnt, then the next questions are:

Do you realise that the reason why women wear pants in the modern era is because of Feminism?

If you do, and you're a woman and wear pants, then do you think you should stop?

If not, why not?

Note: Realise that I am speaking about the rule, not the exception.

In passing, TraceG, I don't believe the OP thinks feminism is Catholic, I think he's just trying to provoke a discussion.

It is because of Feminism is that we have no more young women becoming
Nuns.
Compare 1958 the Nuns that filled Holy Name Cathedral for the
Requiem Mass for Samuel Cardinal Stritch in Holy Name Cathedral,
Chicago, Illinois 1958, to the Nuns today, and we all know what they
look like.

I defy any lib to look at these pictures and tell me we're better off since VCII.

Do you all know of any video footage of priests or religious whether it be sermons, talks, etc. from the 30's through the 50's? I'd really like to see, in moving pictures, the life, demeanor, attitude of Catholic religious back then.

Have you viewed the 1959 Movie, The Nuns Story. This Movie shows
what a Pre Vatican 2 Convent was like. This Movie is great for those
whom want to see the old disciplines, and processes in becoming a
Nun. With regrets, the star of the movie left religious life, and
betrayed her vows which were a very few at that time, the
period just after World War 2.

I see that you live in Lake Arrowheard in the San Bernardino Mountains,
and you are older than my Mother who was born in 1923.
I attended the Rim of the World School for a short while in the 1950's,
and them High School in the 1960's. I remember in the 1950's, about
1955, I was in the second grade. Religion at that time was encouraged
by the Public School Officials. At the end of the school day every
Friday, I was bused with other Catholic Pupils to Catechism
Class at the Catholic Church, where I served as an Altar Boy
in the late 50's into the 60's.
My family had a Mountain Cabin in Blue Jay and was sold in the
late 60's.
The last time I was in Lake Arrowhead was in 1980, and was
surprised in all the changes, new construction. And the Lake
Arrowhead Village was being reconstructed.

So you went to Rim of the World way back! Was that our Lady of the Lake? I live by the golf course, not sure if you know where that is. I think the Village is a bit too superficial and tourist driven now. A lot of the old timers up here say it was much better and much more suited to locals. Now Blue Jay village sort of takes up the slack, but not very well. If you ever want to visit you old home, please let me know. I know its much different than when you were growing up, much more populated, but for my family its much better than living 'down the hill'. There's much more crime, retards and negativity down there. Here, I can, at least a little bit, separate my kids from that.

At my age, I will not be returning. 1980 is my last time. Crime is a problem
every where, and cannot be escape from.
It just the memory that is viable.
It saw the New Catholic Church, forgot the name. You can still see in
1980 the stone altar where out door Mass was celebrated during the
Summer Months.

That's a lot of nuns! Did they not let anyone but nuns attend? They seem to be taking up the whole cathedral.

I believe that there were many Requiem Masses that day, attended by the Bishops,
Clergy, and Nuns, and them the Faithful. There was also live television coverage.
The press reports the that the Masses were chanted.
I wonder if the tapes of the television coverage survived, probably not.
