  • Heh, sounds like a typical American teenager...

    But I digress.

Not trying to cause you disturbance or grief or anything. Just the facts, sir. Only the facts.

Why don't you check this video series out, and see what you think? I'd love to get your take on it.

    My likes are:

Classical (Prior to the 19th century)
Ancient Chant (Gregorian, Ambrosian, et cetera)
    Polyphony

Really, since I know the agenda of the music industry, I don't listen to any modern stuff.
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

I forgot to add those genres.
Also. I do know about the 'agenda'. It's not that I really care for the words, its the tune. I rarely listen to mainstream music(Lady Gaga, etc)
I also forgot to add country.
Oh also. I will defiantly check the link. :)

  • Here's a shorter one (put together by muslims incidentally, but still good) that will definitely keep your attention.

    Matthew 5:37

I used to really be into metalcore. I dunno why. But it suddenly got super boring.
    lol
I'm starting to really just listen to instrumental.

  • Hey BitDude-

I used to listen to a lot of the same music as you. House, techno, indie, alternative, screamo, post- punk etc. For the past year I've really cut down on it, and the past month have essential never used my iPod. There's a link to someone giving a speach at a SSPX school somewhere on here. You should give it a listen. I used to think like you, I don't listen to the words, really just the beat, right? I would challenge you to try, just for a month,  or month and a half to cut out music entirely. It may be the beat which can do the most harm.. hence- you dont' see any trad-group rocking out to the Agnus Dei or Pater Noster lol  See if you notice any change. Think about it brother... :scratchchin:

  • BitDude,

I like the same music as you (deadmau5, tiga, justice, dr lektroluv, etc etc) . I am also into computers and programming, as I've checked out your previous posts.. my work involves system administration and help desk for an IT company. House, techno, electro, some rock.. I even used to DJ a little bit before my conversion. Something I've realized though is that even if its just instrumentals and beats, it always has led me to a place devoid of God and a place of worldliness no matter how hard I tried to integrate it with God.

I mean , think about it. All the music that is made by those DJs/artists for club use, etc.. is geared toward the thrashers/drunks/half-naked girls with big glasses/ecstasy users. Could you see a traditional priest attending an event like that, out of enjoyment? Heres a test: next to time you rock out to some live Deadmau5 or I Love Techno video compilation, have a Blessed Virgin Mary statue near by and look at her while listening.

Not to be a debby downer or a party pooper, but just my observations as I've switched gears from Jєωιѕн frat-party debauchery expert to traditional Catholic (WOW what a switch, right?).

May your path be blessed with great insight from God and protection from all harm, my friend.

s2srea, you're right. It does take an attack on many angles , depending on how entrenched one is in the world, but in my case it seemed so easy. As if a switch went off in my head illuminating all my concordance with the worldlings and their ways, thus provoking me to immediate action and change. God guided my entire conversion, I am sure of it, yet I did work at times to push away the negatives that still wanted to pull me back.

At times I still am tempted though.. I'll even play a track I used to like alot with no lyrics or overtly sɛҳuąƖ-sounding beat, and even then it draws me back. So I press stop and go to pray. It takes some self-denial, acts of penance, and surrounding yourself with holy objects/books/prayer to fill the void that the things of the world once took. Just the fact that Bitdude is on this website is enough to show that he has what it takes to annihilate the devil and the world, with the true Catholic faith.

Well. Actually. I found this website by searching on google "catholic bitcoin" (Random Google search... I know,  :laugh1:) So I saw a thread on here about it. And then I looked at some of the other threads too.

Actually, I only really listen to it while I'm studying.
