Fr. Wathen claims his part of the Knights of Malta are the true ones, not the papal-approved ones. Fr. DeLallo explodes his claims in his book Sword of Christendom, though I don't agree with everything he says.
When Malta was seized by the Brits & or Napoleon, a Remnant of the Knights Of Malta moved to Russia where they were welcomed by Czar Paul. They proceeded to elect him Grand master but( being a schismatic) this could not be recognised by Paul VI. MO is that the Czar was attempting to enforce the Council of Florence & was then murdered. IOW he was trying to reunite the schismatical Byzantine church with Rome. This would have prevented the Napoleonic wars. Amongst all the confusion of the time, Pius VII decided to move the HQ of the Knight to Rome where they have remained ever since-- even though the rot has set in to the current claimants.
True, but I believe the group of which Fr. Wathen was formerly a member until his death are dangerous, unfortunately, since they openly opposed the Pope, even in the period before Vatican II. Their head is an open schismatic Greek Orthodox monarch!
For anyone that is interested, here is a sermon given by Father Wathen on Archbishop Lefebvre in 1988.
