Are there any Countries that do this? If yes what are they, and what do catholics in those Countries do?
I ask this because something happened that make me think: a relative migrated to Canada with her husband and a son. They wanted to have their second child in Canada. But as soon as they arrived they had to go through many stages of preparation, vaccinations etc. that made her postpone it.
Then she had a miscarriage and the doctor nearly made her sterile when he was removing remains of that fetus from her body. And told her to wait a long time.
Now she is in her third month and they made her go through 2 genetic examinations and 1 other examination still needs to be done.
Do they do these to all people, or are just afraid of immigrants? (she is rather a nominal moslem, not a fundamentalist at all).
If a woman decides to keep an invalid fetus will they allow her?

I have never heard of such a thing as a forced abortion by law, even though doctors might frequently advertise abortion.

No I don't mean addvertisment or even strong encouregment, I meant forcing a woman to abort against her own will.
You mean they won't force even if it is proved that the child has defects?
The case of this relative is so suspecious to me. I wonder why they keep on advising her not to have a second child. She say she has to undergo this or that care because of the Laws in Canada. But maybe she exaggerates.

Generally speaking, people who migrate say contradictory things about how it is to live in US, Canada etc.
We have those who say there is too much freedom there even for people with strange cultures, ideas and lifestyles without the gov meddling.
And others who say that the police checks families, schools, streets etc. and people constantly sue one another for trivial matters.
Puzzled!!!.....

Although it's not exactly sanctioned by law, Indian women in the lower echelons of society can be forced by their husbands to get abortions if they have a female child.

China does. This woman was 8 months pregnant, and since she couldn't "pay the fee," her amniotic sac was forcibly injected with poison.

No, abortion is not forced here, but women elective-ly do it.

If someone forces you to do something, that's one thing... but "choosing" to do it when no one is forcing you... is a revolting thought in and of itself.

It's hard to imagine what's worse. Women don't have to do it here, but they do.

In China, they are hauled in and forcibly have to go through it by mandate of the government.

I'm not in Canada, but here they offer genetic exams, but they aren't required. There are also a number of good examples floating around the net of parents who knew they'd have a baby with a fatal illness and chose to continue the pregnancy.

I wonder if there's not some confusion with your relative between optional exams which have been offered and those which are required.
