  • Thank you for the gentlemanly response, God bless.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • Let me add to the chorus that I really miss Gladius.  The forum is not the same without him.  He was a sign of intelligent life on this planet.

  • Thank you for the kind comment, Thorn.  As for whatever intelligence I possess, it tends to be one of the things which, when my spiritual house is in order, is my greatest strength; however, as I have shown here in the not-so-distant past, if I am not careful it can be my greatest weakness.

Please say a little prayer for me that I may always use it well, guided by a spirit of humility and gratitude.  We all have been blessed with amazing gifts; may we use them to achieve the designs of the Giver.

  • Let me say something, also.

Eamon does curse. There's no doubt about it. Just go look at the "Bishop Pivarunas Big Blunder" thread. Of all the worst threads ever started on CatholicInfo, that ranks right up there at the top. There was so much calumny, filth, cussing, and lying on that thread. And Bishop Pivarunas wasn't the only member of the Traditional clergy that was slandered on that thread. Someone posted trash against Archbishop LeFebvre, and the SGG was also criticized. Interestingly enough, ever since that thread, SJB hasn't been able to drop the subject about the SGG. He talks about it in almost every thread he posts in, and gives a smart-aleck response when someone asks him to move on. I don't dislike SJB, but it would be nice to see him use his knowledge of the Faith to discuss other topics.

Eamon's behavior on that thread was -- and I'm not trying to be uncharitable Eamon, I don't dislike you -- embarassing, and that's just puting it charitably. He cursed left and right, and kept making sick references that Matthew had to censor. He cursed at almost everyone on that thread who disagreed with him, and at elderly women, even! Like Raoul said, he would just put stars in, and would put a :) after insults to make it look better than it actually was, but it didn't help. He even said something to me... I think he called me a d-bag. I forgive him for it, because Christ calls us to forgive. Of course, I can certainly understand why people such as Emerentiana are cautious about Eamon returning.

Having said all of that, I also believe in giving people a second chance. Some would say he's already had his "second chance" since he did it once, apologized for it, and then went right back to the very same thread and started doing it again. But then he quit posting frequently and took a two month break. He has returned and it appears that he is sorry and wants to start over. I think he deserves a second chance.

While people on this forum who are given another chance usually blow it, it has worked a few times. The best example is Raoul. He was banned, and at the time I thought he deserved it. But when Matthew let him back on, it was as if his time away from this forum changed him. His posts are now thoroughly enjoyable, and CatholicInfo wouldn't seem the same without him.

So yes, it's true that Eamon's recent past here has not been so great. But let's all give the man a second chance. He seems sincere, and I think it's only fair. So welcome back, Eamon.

    God Bless.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

Well, in that time I began going back to Church, and my mom died, so it wasn't exactly an uneventful time.  There was lots of opportunity to reflect, let's put it that way.

I talk about people being "agenda-driven" and using the faith for their own purposes.  That's what I was like at the time; I wanted to sell my anti-NFP and semi-Feeneyite position and that was my driving obsession.  I was pretty much a Pharisee.  I didn't get what the faith was all about, love, charity, prayer.  The spirit was not really there, it was all in the mind, all intellectual, and we have all seen that kind of young man or not-so-young man far too often.

I believe it was when I began going back to Church after my home-aloner stint that God began flooding into me.  And it all had to do with swallowing pride; which is why I encourage others to do it.  We all have to be put through that.
