  • "If you come to offer sacrifice, but remember that thy brother have anything against thee, leave there thy gift at the altar, and go be reconciled with thy brother, and then return to offer your sacrifice".

( Someone can get the exact quote without me having to search through the bible)

    POINT IS

We are about to go to the biggest Christian occasion in the church calender. EASTER.
And we have some things against our brothers and sisters here on Cathinfo.
But in the spirit of Christian brotherhood and unity of the church,
LET US MAKE PEACE BEFORE EASTER, and confess in what way we believe another has wronged us, and that we have wronged them, and let us ask for forgiveness from each other, not becoming prideful or puffed up, but making peace before the great occasion of Easter sunday.

  • I will begin,

    neil obstat

I confess to thee, my brother neil obstat, that I have harboured resentment against thee, and I have down thumbed thy posts without reading them, and have laughed at thy arguments, and in this I ignored your dignity, and for this I am sorry, and I ask thy forgiveness.
I will henceforth read your posts and not be so quick to judge thee, but will give you the benifit of the doubt.

    st cecilias girl

I confess to thee my sister in faith, that I have harboured hatred for thee and accounted myself thy enemy on this forum, for I considered that thou wanted to enslave the mentally ill, and I was wrong to think that, therefore I ask thy forgiveness, let us return to Christian charity and know the peace of communion.

    claudel

I confess to thee claudel, that I have been envious of thy articulate and eloquent words, and of thy sharp intellect, and feeling inferior, i did hate thee without cause, and i down thumbed thee many times, but i knew that thou hast some good things to say, therefore i ask forgiveness from thee, and thy prayers. Let us return to communion.

    frances

I confess to thee Frances, that I have ignored thee without cause, feeling indignant over what was going on in my life and taking it out on thee at times, and for this i ask of thee forgiveness and prayers.

    Pax Vobis+++

I too apologize and ask the forgiveness of anyone that I have wronged.

  • I've been frustrated with AndySloan and have probably been a bit too glib and sarcastic than need be.

SG, I've been impatient with you as well.

To anyone else, please forgive me.

    Pax Christi.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • I love reading eloquent, articulate writing/answers on 'ere, but wot I can't stand is having to read through 5-10 lines that could have been summed up in one!

There are some people with far too much time on their hands on 'ere!

    You know who you are.

St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

While you post is admirable in many ways regarding laying down petty, personal difference during Holy Week and commencing the peace of Christ between each other which is what we should always do  throughout the year anyway.

    However.

I would not ask for forgiveness for speaking eternal truths, especially those handed down by the doctrines and dogmas of the Church. Not now, not on Easter, not ever. I think one needs to be careful of getting too caught up in this worldy, mushy emotion of being sorrowful and apologetic for avowing what is true and just.

If anything, we are in a time where Christ gave us an example of speaking the Truth and not backing down or "apologizing" unto the death. This is the example taken up by the martyrs  in which their blood was the seeds of the Church.

  • If I have given offense please forgive me. If you have given offense you were already forgiven, and either it didn't happen or I forgot about it.

A sage Mother Superior once replied, to someone who told her that she (the lay person) was leaving the Catholic Church because of the outwardly poor behavior of many of her fellow Catholics, "Oh dear, you mustn't think that way. The Catholic Church IS the place for sinners".

If we can learn to bear with each other in whatever our anguish over the state of the Church causes us to become we have the opportunity to become models of charity.

Jesus's conduct during his Passion can guide us.

This wonderful blog has brought together so many fine souls.

    Blessed Easter!

You say this well, rlee.  Better than my lame attempt:

My apology goes to AndySloan who, on the one hand writes with a gentle heart and on the other infuriates me, which is my issue, not his.   Sadly, I told him earlier today that he is an occasion of sin for me and that I must hide his comments.  Upon reflection, this was an inappropriate, even cruel, thing to say and I will make  prayerful reparation, especially when in another thread he extended brotherly greeting.

Please forgive me, Andysloan, and Cathinfo readers, for my very uncharitable comment.

God bless you SG for another thread encouraging charity.

Happy holy feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior! Christus Rexurrexit!

  • Thanks for this thread, SoulGuard.

Please forgive me as well, any and all who I have ever offended, and pray for me. I keep you all in my prayers.

A blessed and happy Easter to all.

  • To PerEvangelicaDicta,

If there is anything to forgive, I forgive it. I ask your forgiveness if I have offended you in anyway. Thank-you.

Indeed, If have offended anyone during my time on CI, I heartily beg your pardon

And with Our Saviour about to rise tonight having suffered for our sins, it would be good for us all to welcome Him in humility, repentance and solidarity, and also with joy.

Happy Easter to all in our Risen King!

  • I didn't down-thumb anyone, BUT  public confessions are soooo  N O!!   or Jerry Springer.
Catholics have always been ridiculed for confessions to a priest, and now we have the other end of the spectrum - and that is public confessions!  There is a happy medium.
I hope in the future that if you have been uncharitable to someone here you will simply go to confession and PM the offended party to offer apologizes.  You need not shout your offenses from the housetops or on a public forum.  Chances are everyone already knows them.
