  • Not that we men should desire to be a bishop, for St. Thomas teaches one should not desire that office, what would be your episcopal motto if you became a bishop in theory?

I would choose: "Beati qui non viderunt et crediderunt" ("...blessed are they that have not seen, and have believed.") (John 20:29).

I would choose the motto because it all comes down to whether or not one chooses to believe the True and Catholic Faith. People may try to plead ignorance for this or that person, but at the end of the day, those who know have a choice to make if they desire to see with the eyes of the virtue of faith even though they do not see with their physical eyes.
"Non nobis, Domine, non nobis; sed nomini tuo da gloriam..." (Ps. 113:9)

    That's a powerful choice, Kephapaulos.

I've never heard a bishop explain when or how he made the decision what to choose.
But it seems there may be some grace that comes with the office to help him decide.
