  • We are facing the possible loss of our only vehicle and the suspension of our cell service, which is our only phone service.

Deo gratias, our house payment is being taken care of, but there's absolutely no one we can turn to in our family for any further support, as they have helped us through years of my unemployment and the difficulties that come with my physical issues hindering my ability to work.

Please pray for us. I trust you will.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar

  • I will pray. There are practical steps that can be taken.

For example I am currently assisting a man regarding an alleged debt. We write letters for him. Whilst I could, there is no charge for the 'service'.

  • Establish if you actually have a contract. Avoid solicitors and barristers. There are steps you can take if a 3rd party solicitor/debt collector writes to you.

In Ireland there is a growing level of a fight back. People taking on the banks, debt, insurance.

Of course it will vary from country to country but Ireland is a common law jurisdiction.

  • In Ireland if the matter does go to court seek an adjournment.  Then at the next court hearing seek a Gary Doyle order. This enables you to prepare your defence. As a Lay litigant you don't employ a solicitor or a barrister. You can have a McKenzie friend.

  • I wish so much that I could help. This is a bad time but in a month or two, please update if you are still in need.

  • In Ireland for a fee that can't exceed €6.35 you can make a request under Data Protection Act. The bank, the insurance company, the phone company etc etc has forty days to reply with everything stored on file with your name and address on it.

  • For example a man I and others are assisting, he has written for a copy of the alleged contract between him and the firm in question. What they sent back is questionable. Now, he will make a data protection request.

He is due in court in November but they may back off as a result of the letters. If he does go to court, he will seek an adjournment. Then the Gary Doyle order.

Another woman I am assisting wrote to the electricity supply company.

  • What Stephen Francis is far too common and a reality for many people. I'm still in the family home but have been battling a bank for nearly two years now.

Like others, I don't mind writing letters for people or helping them but people need to share the workload.

The last couple of years has seen groups emerge. A few in Ireland are:

    People for Economic Justice
    Debt Options
    Anti-Eviction Taskforce

  • If there is a St Vincent DePaul group near you, they may be able to help.  I'm not sure what they have available in Ireland.

Stephen Francis may not be in Ireland. I was highlighting the practical steps that groups and individuals have undertaken here in Ireland.

Regarding the St Vincent DePaul, I often drop them in literature.

  • Regarding the Society of St Vincent de Paul, I commend them but had a polite debate regarding MABS. In Ireland, MABS help people with budgeting finance. They inadvertently are helping the banks. Many St Vincent de Paul meant well by sending people to MABS.

stgobnait is perhaps familiar with Mabs? (The Money Advice and Budgeting Service)

I wouldn't recommend MABS or New Beginning. Just a personal opinion. Both help the banks.

  • Conferences vary but the Society of St Vincent de Paul is still ok to support. For a year or so in my late teens, I visited homes in Ballymun in Dublin on a Friday night.

I usually donate books during the year.
