  • I understand that many of you want an edit button, to be able to edit your spelling errors, etc.

But I would need to modify the forum software to allow editing only in the 5 or 10 minutes after you create a post.

I've been to other message boards where people can edit their posts -- you constantly have people going back and changing what they said, and many threads make less sense as a result. It's hard to make sense of things.

I like posts to be set in concrete, so you can refer to them months or years later. No archiving, no deleting posts or users, no over-moderating -- and no editing.

    "Think before you post".

Rather than worrying about an "Edit button", why not use the "Preview" button and read over what you type, before you submit it for posting? All you have to do is proofread, and you can catch your errors.

If an embarrassing typo escapes your notice, you can always PM me and I'll change it for you.

I would like to find the time to add the edit button (as described), but I don't know when I'm going to find time for that.

    God bless,

    Matthew

  • It seems to me that the most efficient way to use an edit function would be to allow an edit until a post has been responded to.
There Is No Such Thing As 'Sede Vacantism'...
nor is there such thing as a 'Feeneyite' or 'Feeneyism'
