  • Today I told my college that I wanted to drop out. It is not the first time I have done so, but the other times I changed my mind because I thought the qualification might be useful. The reason I was doing my course was to win the approval of some religious group that might take me on. Now that I done some research and realize that it is unlikely any group I would want to join would take me on, I see there is no point in college. I don't have kids and am not married so I have no one else to look after. I don't want anyone else to look after either. I don't have any regrets about my decision, and I did this to facilitate my cutting off of the world. Being in college I became more like everyone else and my faith suffered. I might have won the approval of people but I lost the approval of God. There is no comparison. I must drop out and devote more time to religion. I am due in one day next week which is my last day.

  • and its not because I find it difficult. I get the highest marks anyone ever got at that college. I have until Tuesday to change my mind.

I wonder if the members of Cathinfo think that I should still have some hope of joining religion, which is the only thing I want to do.

Going to college is the worse mistake I have ever done in my life, especially being a woman as I am. I wish I had not ever enrolled in those institutions, especially nowadays, in which most of them are a waste of time and money at best for men and women alike.

In exceptional circuмstances, going to an university, may be a good idea though, depending on the profession you choose, especially for those men that intend to enter the married state of life. It may be useful for them to find a job and support a wife & family, or when they are already in the workforce and know beforehand that a professional degree will bring them benefits.

Personally, the only thing I got out of college is a vast debt of almost 100 000 K which I will pay for the rest of my life. I am very happy though that I chose MOTHERHOOD over career and I believe wholeheartly it was the right choice. I will not be insisting my daughters to go to college, though. I wish I can spare them from making that silly mistake.

I'd say that if you do no intend to marry, joining a religious order would be the best idea. The college atmosphere may not be positive for your soul anyways. Pray much for the Holy Ghost to guide you in this important decision so you do it for the right reason. As a real vocation.

If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

I am currently doing computers, but I could transfer into health care.
But I don't want to do go to any secular learning institute at the moment, most of all because it is causing me to be assimilated into this godless culture. What you say is true, I found the college a tremendous waste of time where you learn how to waste time and look like you work when you don't.
As for joining a religious order, I did ask the Carmelites and the Dominicans in the past, and in the future I might ask again. But they are Vatican 2, and my opinions about accepting the conciliar church have changed much since then. I don't know what I will do, but I feel it is no loss to stop this stupid college. I could do something more productive with my time.

  • What about an apprenticeship?

  • Online universities will solve your problem, the students and teachers. We are to avoid occasions of sins, not the whole world.

I don't want to do an apprenticeship because I don't like manual jobs, I would not be good at them.

  • What do you plan to do instead?

Didn't you have enough for an associates nearly at least?

    Sincerely,

  • If you are in danger, as you said, of losing your faith and becoming like everyone else, you know what choice you must make. What was your major? A change from liberal arts to hard sciences might help. I am a recently retired college professor and if I knew then what I know now, I would never have sent our children to college. The bias against Christianity is pervasive. Have you prayed about what God would have you do?
Pray for the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

  • Soul guard, your recent posts seem very negative and concerning.  Do you pray the Rosary?

  • Hiding from the world is the wrong reason to join a religious order. You actually need to have a God - given vocation...and then persevere until the end!

  • If you're already committed and halfway or more through, you should guard your soul and finish.
The costs keep rising and the debt mounts up. Take the opportunity and use it wisely.

If you're just starting and trying it, there's nothing wrong with quitting.

College is only useful to people who need the degree to get into a specific profession. And the reasons for the profession have to be more than greed and pride based.

For those that know they need to earn a living, look into trade work. Our Lord even lived that example.

I say lots of prayers every day including the rosary, but am perhaps vulnerable to feeling prideful. That answers your question. I don't see what was so wrong with saying I wanted out of college.
