  • High heels can be used as a weapon of self-defense, but they can also seriously injure or kill a woman who wears them if she should get her heel caught on a wharf or in a busy subway.

    Bras, on the other hand, cannot be used as a weapon of self-defense. Women are often obliged to wear them not only because it is a very expensive fashion fad, but also because they are often required on the job.

    However, studies have shown that wearing a bra increases a woman's chance of breast cancer because they are constrictive and cut off vital lymph and blood supply to the breasts.

    Quote
    In 1995 the first edition of Dressed to Kill: The Link Between Breast Cancer and Bras revealed the disturbing results of a study that showed a notable correlation between the wearing of bras and the incidence of breast cancer. The women studied who wore bras 24 hours a day were 125 times more likely to have breast cancer compared to bra-free women.

    Instead of experiencing interest in their research, Sydney Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer were subjected to a barrage of mercurial assaults. Industry representatives refused to consider the results and dismissed the book out of hand.  Mr. Singer even became the target of personal scrutiny. The American Cancer Society took the unusual step of issuing statements of absolute condemnation that were devoid of scientific methodology. The authors had clearly upset the status quo.

    But despite the continuous attacks, the evidence would not disappear. The authors were determined to get their message out. They were emboldened by people who contacted them from around the world with messages of support. New studies and research emerged that was consistent with their own research. So much so that it became clear that an updated book was needed.

    So vociferous are the opponents of this theory that the publisher received threats if they proceeded with publication of the book. The details of this incident are included in the book's Foreword.

    The second edition of Dressed to Kill: The Link Between Breast Cancer and Bras (Square One) has been updated to include:

        • Additional references to historical awareness of the bra-cancer link

        • Advice from British Medical Association that bras are the leading cause of breast pain and
          requests for breast reduction surgery
    ·                 Numerous additional supportive studies not included in the first edition   ....

    So, what does a woman do if breast cancer is prevalent in her family, and she decides not to wear a bra in public to prevent the likelihood of cancer?

    What does a woman do if her priest and/or employer say that not wearing a bra is immodest?

    I have posted this topic in the open for both men and women to see. A husband must protect his wife and give her support should she decide not to wear a bra.

    There are also other dangerous apparel, one of which is the elastic back brace often required at places of employment where employees must stock the shelves. This poses the same risk as wearing a bra as it restricts the blood and lymph supply.

    Lord have mercy.

  • There are alternatives to wearing a bra which can be just as modest.

  • I think this topic should be under the women only subforum.

    Whatever has happened with the notion of feminine mystique in modern generations?
    If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

    Why are women so squeamish?  Men should know that their wives could be harmed or die of cancer simply by wearing a bra.

    However, to be realistic, there are not too many fashions that look good when a woman does not wear a bra, and the alternatives are awful (I took a look), so a modest woman must wear several layers or have large pockets on her shirt.

    The Blessed Virgin Mary obviously did not wear a bra, but she did wear modest clothing with multiple layers.
    Lord have mercy.

    It's called modesty of speech.  Certain topics are not suitable for discussion in mixed company.  I have no trouble seeing why people consider undergarments such a topic.

    THEN, how are men to know that wearing a bra is dangerous for women when
    1) the news media is not talking about it;
    2) the bra industry is not talking about it;
    3) the stores are not talking about it;
    4) the American Cancer Society is strangely silent and even defends the wearing of a bra;
    5) even many doctors deny the connection between wearing bras and the skyrocketing increase of breast cancer in women; and
    6) there are no warning labels anywhere.

    Money speaks and the bra industry does not want the truth to be known.

    How are men to know that wearing an elastic back brace when lifting heavy items is also dangerous? There are no warning labels on those garments either. Yet, men are increasingly coming down with breast cancer themselves. Could it be those back braces?
    Lord have mercy.

  • I now understand why the authors of Dressed to Kill received death threats.

    This is an extremely unpopular topic, yet it is extremely important because
    bras constrict the flow of blood and lymph to the breast, cutting off circulation.

    Lord have mercy.

    Men could discuss this topic among themselves, just as women could.  There is no reason that men and women need to discuss this together.

    Okay, then you, a woman, go and start a thread in the Men's forum.
    I dare you.  :)

    Again, how is a husband to know about bras that may shorten the life of his wife?
    Lord have mercy.

    If I wanted to get a thread started on the Men's forum, I would send a PM to MaterDominici containing the opening post and ask her to pass it on to Matthew to post for the men.

    ::)

    I doubt that would work.

    I could get my husband to join this forum (like yanking teeth). He hates forums.

    If he were to join, he would be just another lurker who never posts.

    Lord have mercy.

    Do a duckduckgo.com search, which is a secure search without cookies.
    Input alternative bras

    Warning some of the pictures are risqué and quite immodest.
    These alternative bras should always be worn with a blouse over them.
    Lord have mercy.

    Thank you, Mr. TKGS.

    God bless you.

    If my thread on dangerous fashions will save the life of your wife, or that of her friends and family, then this thread is worth all the downratings it has earned.

    We all must learn to speak the truth, even if the truth hurts, or seems inappropriate.
