  • There are the sedavacantists, the traditionalists.

whichever you are, I would like to know your opinion of this thought, namely that the Catholic Church as we know it is gone.. I feel it is and yet there is Matthew 16:18 which says that the Church will prevail over anything Satan throws at it.

I am confused... But I am not confused about this: Satan has virtually taken over the Catholic Church (not speaking of SSPX Churches).

  • Of course it's not gone, if it were gone, the gates of hell would have prevailed....

....no matter how much tragedy with which history is strewn, Christ moves towards His glorious triumph. With His resurrection was the announcement that He would have his victory, when He emerged from the tomb, He proved that there was no force, no power greater than He and He proved that if He was invincible, then that which He would establish is also invincible, namely His Church.

It really does not matter therefore that throughout history the Church suffer terrific blows, that it at times – and these times almost have always prevailed – that the Church suffer it’s terrible embarrassments, it’s setbacks.

Despite all this, despite all appearances and despite whatever losses, Christ is triumphing in the Church and He is proving His power, His invincibility and He is succeeding in doing what He came here to the world to achieve, and God the Father is fulfilling the promises of His creation.

If it were not so, He would never have created anything to begin with. If it could be, that Almighty God could set in motion anything He did not command absolute power over, or out of which He could not draw whatever He wished, then He would never had done anything like that and He indeed would not be infinite in the first place.

We have it in our power to participate or we have it in our choice to be turned away, it is strictly within our choice and whatever grace is necessary is within our grasp. - Fr. Wathen
"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

The Highest Principle in the Church: "We are first of all under obedience to God, and only then under obedience to man" - Fr. Hesse

well, I meant The Church as we know it
The Church may have to go underground. I think it is being forced to do so by Satan who has taken over the Church. And yet there are good priests here and there, good Churches. I just think they are few and far between. And there may come a time, possibly in the very near future, when the Church will be... um... hate to sound protestant but... the Church may be the PERSONS who believe (meaning the Real Presence wont be there anymore!) , and ... well, it just may be that we will all be saying
    Jesus has left the Building

  • I think if "we" knew the Church to begin with, then things would be far different now.

How is it that the various "kinds" of Catholics(?) can all know the same Church(?)

What does "know the Church" even mean?
    "Lord, have mercy".

Don't be confused just because they have the buildings, which are fewer and fewer all the time. In the big picture, all God is doing is letting the heard cull itself.

I know the Faith fairly well. I have read a lot of the Catechism, have read the Bible, some parts over and over and over (on top of hearing it at mass)

I am disillusioned. I know more bad priests than good. In fact I only know of about 2 good ones. That is TERRIBLE esp considering that I used to travel a lot and have been to more Churches than most people

When I say Satan has taken over the Church, that is NO exaggeration. I have FELT the presence of Satan in many Catholic (I mean "Catholic") Churches

yes, I know... (you meant "herd" not "heard")
I believe the day is fast approaching when "Church" will mean only those who love Jesus
a form of Protestant prophecy that has come true, even though the protestants prophesied unwittingly

Satan has not taken over the Catholic Church he just inspired the higher ups to leave it and take with them those who were Catholic in name only.
Not everyone left and those who stayed are the Catholic church.  God did not promise us a majority He only promised that we, Traditional Catholics would always be till the end of time.
BTW... I am a Traditional Roman Catholic who takes the sedevacantist position.
    What position do you take?
    Please pray for my soul.

Then why did I have to toggle it to read your response? It is pretty handy for, if nothing else, collapsing "Magna Carta" posts.

    Using hover/drop-down menus:
Catholic Info > Profile > Buddies/Ignore List  > Edit Ignore List
    "Lord, have mercy".
