A friend of mine emailed me the following along with a request not to send anymore articles after I sent her an article regarding our current economic crisis. Take from it what you will - it would be nice if I felt as blissfully care free as she does. On the other hand she does not have a family. To my way of thinking, as much as she is right, and she certainly is, it is easier said then done. Regardless, it is a beautiful reminder for us all.
"I just wanted to (hopefully) spread some words of encouragment in that fear is an emotion which belongs to someone who's on their way to despair! A Catholic has no reason to truly fear, and maybe I'm just in a consolation, but if so - even better. We must remember that we don't pray "because there is nothing else to do". We pray because it is the best thing to do. It is not our last resort, it is our first
and an eternally infallible line of attack. If more people would get as excited about the power of the Rosary (I'm certainly not in that category myself yet though it's definately a goal!), as they get about Politics, the Economy - even abortion, et al., those worries would not exist.
So do not worry little sparrow; besides, in a hundred years, we'll all be dead. :) These unique times are simply our unique sanctifying cross. St. Athanasius had his, St. Philomena had hers - even St. Joseph had to "deal" with the question of a virgin motherhood but their Faith got the all through. So keep your Faith in God, Hope in Our Lady, and Charity towards your neighbor and it'll all be good.
Life is good, so have a beer.
