It's very sad that this isn't self evident.
How someone can argue about the rubrics of '62 or BOD or EENS or pope Francis and then post that cartoon on two occasions I find baffling as well as sad.
Pope Francis would not post that and he is a notorious modernist Liberal.
Matthew chapter 23:
[23] Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you tithe mint, and anise, and cuмmin, and have left the weightier things of the law; judgment, and mercy, and faith. These things you ought to have done, and not to leave those undone.
[24] Blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel. [25] Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you make clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within you are full of rapine and uncleanness.
That's why I'm bothered by people nit-picking about doctrinal purity and all that (as an excuse for condemning and arguing with others, of course).
In the end, they usually fall guilty of something much worse -- posting images of blasphemy, in this case.
That's the problem with mis-placed priorities, including scruples. While the devil convinces you to purify this sand over here, some armed troops come right in the main gate and wreak havoc on the town you were supposed to be guarding (your soul)...
In other words, the danger of scruples and mis-placed effort is NOT in being too pure -- it's in the distraction it causes. The whole thing is a "diversion" in military terms, so the devil sneaks in with a massive column of tanks over here and does massive damage that could take you straight to hell in the end...
