Here is what the DOW looks like for the past 2 years:

Now you may not realize this, but the ACTUAL CRASH is much greater than the graphic I just posted.

Why?

Because we've had about 14% to 16% inflation (loss in value for the US Dollar) over the past several years.

So when you factor in inflation, the DOW has REALLY crashed!

Some guys have actually charted the DOW in barrels of oil, or ounces of gold so you can really see the crash.

It's simple to understand -- if the dollar is worth 16% less after a year, but the stock market went up 16% that year, you've BROKEN EVEN -- not made a red cent. But you'll still get charged capital gains tax by the government... :light-saber:

And it's their own fault we have inflation! Good thing I don't have any stocks.

Are you checking it out now? Down about 650 points, quite the crash...

I'll put this very simply:

The DOW was over 14,000, and now it's around 8,650. Almost a 50% reduction in value!

The two children I had (and still have) didn't get reduced by 50% during that time. Nor did the knowledge gained from study, reading, thinking, etc.

Just think of all the people who put off having kids (or had only 1 or 2 children) because they wanted to save up for a posh retirement! Imagine their disappointment. If they had chosen "all the children that God sends" instead, they'd be much happier today. They, too, could laugh as the DOW collapses like a house of cards.

I guess it's good to put your eggs in the right baskets -- the ones that God points out for you.

BTW, if you're looking for advice on "what to do with my life savings", I'd recommend physical gold and silver.

In the past year, gold has gone from $750 to $920 (a 22% increase!). Meanwhile the DOW has lost 39% of its value...

And I was telling people to do this BEFORE it became the obvious course of action.

Maybe if more people read Cathinfo, there wouldn't be so many people with retirement and life savings in jeopardy.

And it's not about me, either -- I just happen to be one of the people around today who has COMMON SENSE. A rare commodity, unfortunately.

Chant, This is something that will not surprise you. My grandma lives with me and every couple of months she has me talk to the men who handle her trust. It is a privately owned local bank. Guess what? The second to the last time I spoke with Mr. T. I told him that he must be aware of how shake ALL investments are at this time. I told him that Grandma ( who is VERY aware of things, no mental problems at all) wanted some of her money moved to gold and silver. He stated this was a very strange request and they would get back to me. Never heard any more from him. Last month Grandma talked to Mr. T., he did not want to talk to me at all. Said that her finances are invested in solid things and that there was no reason ever to doubt their ability to handle her ivenstments. She asked what her money is in and he said he would send her a listing with her next statement.
Next statement comes and a note in enclosed. If she wants to know where her money is she must come to the bank ALONE and he will tell her.
She keeps saying that since it is a trust they must take care of it the right way and I should not worry. Especially since the person who put her money in trust for her is her LAWYER who is ON THE BOARD of the bank!!!!!
It is difficult for someone 92 to realize that next to the mafia in her home town of Palermo, Sicily, no one is more untrustworthy save her lawyer and banker.

Dawn,

At this point, I would be very worried about your Grandmothers money. My brother's girlfriend just pulled out of her 401k to save what she had left. Tommorrow could get very ugly in the markets. Monday could give us a bank holiday. Remember Monday is the anniversary of the Sun at Fatima. I think Our Lady is letting the hammer of chastisement fall.
