Degrees of Glory in Heaven

    • I have never read anything in the Bible or papal docuмents which directly states that there are degrees of glory in Heaven, as opposed to Hell with Limbo and Gehenna, but I heard someone talk about that today at church. Are there degrees of glory in Heaven? Also, does the Church teach that every reprobate will suffer equally in Hell, or does the suffering depend on any factors?

    • I believe it was the Council of Florence (the very Pope Eugene IV who's in your signature) which taught that people are punished to varying degrees in hell.  That only stands to reason in God's perfect justice.  Otherwise, you'd have Joe Stalin sitting right across from a kindly Jєωιѕн grandmother who never hurt a fly, suffering the exact same torments.

    • St john Vianney spoke about people having higher glory in heaven. Don't know how that works once you get up there?

    • If you read about St. Gertrude the Great, which was the only female with that title "Great",  in her story it was revealed to her that whoever and whenever one just look at the Blessed Sacrament their glory in heaven will be raised a little bit higher.
    Therefore I tell my grandchildren when the priest is gracing the faithful with Holy Communion we should all watch and try to see the Sacred Host for those few seconds each time as the priest moves along the Communion rail.  Several of my grandsons are altar servers and they have the best opportunity to look at each host whenever it is their turn to serve and follow the priest at that time.
