  • Not telling you what to do (heck, there's plenty of people here more worthy); but giving you my 2 cents & obvious opinion,

From time to time; direct your intention and focus with all of your human willpower to offer 5 decades of the Rosary for the actual graces to love God above all - for His own sake. Without adding anything else attached to your petitions. Why? I believe the congruency (desire) and right reason acted upon conforms directly to why you are here on this earth. I’m not saying do this every day. Perhaps from time to time, if possible.

As a bonus; it helps train your mind and soul into performing a Perfect Act of Contrition (admit there are additional criteria) in case you find yourself without access to the Sacrament of Penance and if Mortal Sin stains your soul. Keeping in mind that all it takes is one fully consented, volitional impure thought and Hell is your punishment worthy. You must die in the state of Grace.

And if fear is overwhelming you; let’s say due to some end of the world scenario; it will be near impossible to make a perfect act of contrition, because it most likely will be imperfect (fear of Hell).

Another bonus is the psychological impact of focusing not on yourself but instead on God. This will help you to curb emotional ‘fear’ that can make you overestimate problems and act too defensively with ‘knee-jerk’ decisions; thus prematurely cutting off your options.

And alternatively (& obviously); don't put your head in the sand to what is going on in the news and perceived wars including problems in the Church, etc... This too is problematic by blinding you to the evil in this world; thus delaying (or avoiding all together) crucial preparations if SHTF. Just realize that many times the virtue needed will be somewhere in the middle of either extreme. And try your best to look at things the way they really are (whether it's "rain" or "shine"); not as your emotions color them.
