  • Here in New York City it's the second biggest blizzard on record. 26.8 inches of snow, just .01" short of the record set in 2006. I took these pics this morning in the Meatpacking District of Manhattan. The major roads are pretty clear, but the smaller roads are still covered. The media uses the word "worst". I'd use the word "best." Who doesn't love blizzards?

Some would have people believe that I'm a deceiver because I've used various handles on different Catholic forums. They only know this because I've always offered such information, unprompted. Various troll accounts on FE. Ben on SuscipeDomine. Patches on ABLF 1.0 and TeDeum. GuitarPlucker, Busillis, HatchC, and Rum on Cathinfo.

  • That must be a Main Coon cat. They have fur that keeps them warm.
    Lord have mercy.

  • There was an NYC blizzard in 1996 or 1997 that I remember being more powerful than this one. To declare this the 2nd biggest blizzard in NYC they used measurements from Central Park. It's possible that what I experienced in the late 90s was more powerful in my particular area, but not throughout the city.

Here are some Norwegian Forest cats enjoying their natural habitat:

Norwegian Forest cats come in all colors and patterns, except Siamese (black ears, etc.).  They can be "tabby" or "calico."

A Show cat, "FIFe Supreme Champion, GCCF Grand Champion and FIFe Premier Norskwood Greebo... Greebo was Felis Britannica’s Best Adult Male Norwegian Forest 2007 & 2008... Greebo likes going to shows and has done really well from being a kitten up to Supreme Champion with FIFe and Grand Champion with GCCF (which he did at the age of 5). He has been Best in Variety many times, Best of Breed many times, Nominated many times and has several Best in Show Wins too... Greebo loves to be cuddled and he’s so long that I can wrap him over my shoulders where he’d be quite happy to be carried about all day long."

    Enjoying Snow White!

Norwegian Forest cats have a great disposition, great with children and make wonderful pets.  They share many of the gentle traits of Maine Coons.  The long hair is a maintenance concern, but they do a good job of keeping clean.  Their paws have long hair between the toes under the pads which insulates them in the snow, like built-in snow shoes!

  • Here is a warning not to eat snow:

Do Not Eat Any Snow: Study Finds Snows Absorb Toxic Air Pollutants

    techtimes.com

One of the worst things that a child could be doing now is eating snow, as a group of scientists in Canada found that there may be no clean or pure snow after all, particularly if one lives in an urban location.

Urban snow has been found to absorb the same toxic and carcinogenic components coming from car exhaust – with the interaction between pollutants and cold temperatures even potentially causing new compounds to be released, warned study lead researcher Dr. Parisa Ariya of McGill University…

“I do not wish to be alarmist,” said Ariya in an interview, but said that snowflakes have different surfaces that can absorb gaseous or particulate pollutants.

Also include radiation from leaky nuclear power plants.

Someone explain how this guy doesn't enjoy being in the snow:

(Sneaking up on some rabbits) "Do you think they'll notice my tail?"
