Notwithstanding the cover story for removing St. Philomena from the calendar, what was the purpose in targeting her?  Was this a trial balloon to see how far they could go with rewriting the liturgical calendar?

Was it an attempt to remove the supernatural and devotional saints while adding social justice "saints"?  

Was it to see how far they could go before the faithful would create a ruckus?  I am in favor of this last one because they haven't purged any saints since St. Philomena.

Is it possible the modernists picked St. Philomena because she was so loved by Pope St. Pius X and Pope Leo XIII?  This would be an act of vindictiveness but these post-Vatican II popes and their minions are really vindictive people.

What are some of your thoughts on the "why" St. Philomena was specifically targeted.  Modernist don't believe in the supernatural so to them all miracles and devotions are bunkum to be tolerated so they can access to the power that they crave.
