Any recommendations?

I've got one from 1962 that I bought on Ebay.

And I want to buy one for myself (new) and one for my teenage son.

Help!

My definite Favorite is the "St. Joseph's Daily Missal" it was published in 1959 by Catholic Book Publishing.  I like it because the English translation is easier for me to relate to.  There are probably some trads here who would say that it's too modern of a translation possibly, but I find more inspirational as for the translation part.  Also it has a decent size print, nice glossy pictures, and some good traditional prayers included, as well as an examination of conscience.  Well, that's your servants 2c....

I prefer to use my 1958 reprint of The Marian Missal by Veritas Press. The only thing updated in the calendar.

I like to use my 1940 copy of Blessed Be God for Mass sometimes, but especially for my prayers and my Confession & before/after Communion prayers. I switch books for these times during Mass.

We have The St. Joseph '59. My Dad likes it.

We also have several copies of the New Marian Missal from 1961 from a stash discovered in a warehouse some years ago. My remaining family members use those. Nice to have the originals, but, I would rather have a 1945 St. Andrew Missal.

I honestly don't notice differences in missals but I have heard a lot of people express a preference for the St Andrews.

I like the Saint Joseph Continuous  Sunday missal. It's very user friendly for a beginner. The changeable  parts of the mass are included with the ordinary of the mass for each Sunday so there is no flipping  back and forth to different parts of the missal. The downside is it's only Sunday and not daily and does not include Holy week and feast days, etc.

Yes, my husband has the St. Andrew's missal and he prefers it over all the others.  It defines and explains why we do what we do, the movements of the mass and it is so interesting.  There are actions we has catholic have lost and have no idea what we have lost.  This is more expensive.  But well worth it.  I have found missals over the years at estate sales, thrift stores but in the past 8 years they are harder to find.  Good Luck
