  •  Dear Me,

Thank you for your interest in Catholics United for the Faith (CUF).

As indicated on our website, Catholic Responses is a service for CUF members, and our records indicate that you are not a member of CUF at this time. However, you are more than welcome to take advantage of the many resources on our website, which are available to all (described in further detail below). One of the Faith Facts on there may be particularly helpful in addressing your question. It is entitled "What Must Be Done for a Valid Baptism?" and is under the Liturgy category.

We have had to limit service of the Catholic Responses department to our members only-those who are helping to maintain the work that we do-because of a high demand for our service and limited resources. For more information about Catholic Responses, please see http://www.cuf.org/infoservices/index.asp.

As a member apostolate, CUF is comprised of individual members who are carrying out the mission of CUF (to "support, defend, and advance the efforts of the teaching Church") in their own spheres of influence. CUF headquarters exists and is maintained by its members to support them in the field. Almost everything we do is geared towards providing our members with formational materials to help them grow more deeply in their relationship with Jesus and in knowledge of His teachings through the Catholic Church, and also with material that will equip them to share their faith with others.

You may or may not know that Catholics United for the Faith is a lay apostolate for Catholics who strive to be faithful to Catholic teaching (as interpreted by the Church's Magisterium) and to respond to the call to personal holiness -- a call proposed time and again by the same Magisterium, particularly at the Second Vatican Council.  While defending and sharing the Catholic faith, members seek to promote a real cooperation between the laity and their bishops and priests. They strive to bear witness to the truth of the faith and to seek holiness by obedience to that truth in love.

Our many outreaches include the award-winning Lay Witness magazine (back issues may be viewed at http://www.cuf.org/Laywitness/LWindex.asp.); Bible studies and other solidly Catholic materials through Emmaus Road Publishing (www.emmausroad.org); and the Catholic Responses department, which answers members' questions on the faith, and has developed dozens of Faith Facts (http://www.cuf.org/Faithfacts/index.asp) on all sorts of faith-related topics, in response to our most frequently asked questions. They are available to all for free on our website. CUF also produced the Faith and Life catechism series for grades 1-8, provides the Didache high school catechism series through Emmaus Road, and is in frequent dialogue with Vatican officials regarding significant issues of our day.

By forming our members in the Catholic faith and equipping them to share that faith with others, we hope to reach the world for Christ and His Church.

Are you already doing what CUF members do? Are you seeking to share the truth of our Catholic faith with charity, gentleness, and respect and to grow in personal holiness? If so, why not consider joining us as we endeavor to "support, defend, and advance the efforts of the teaching Church" and to "proclaim Christ to every generation"? You can learn more about becoming a member of CUF at http://www.cuf.org/Support/SupportCUF/becomeamember.asp.

Your questions are important to us. Should you choose to become a member, we look forward to receiving your questions in the future.

    Lenten blessings,

    END LETTER

Okay, they want money to answer my question.

P.S.  I found my answer here (for free), by the way:
