  • 1. I keep banning him, including blocking his IP address, but as some of the more technical among you are already aware, he gets around this by using a VPN. There is no way around this. All I can do is keep banning him.

To Ladislaus: I understand your frustration, but I'm certain I said this plainly YEARS ago, and even within the past 6 months. I thought it was obvious, and that you already know this. But for some strange reason you wanted me to say it explicitly again. Ok, here you go! See point #1.

    2. Downvotes of Croix sock puppets ("latest incarnations") are COMPLETELY irrelevant. Yes, they will appear part of your total vote count forever, at least until I write a script to re-count all the vote totals from scratch, but the votes themselves are deleted. And the LATEST, ACTUAL count of downvotes in the database is what is used for upvote/downvote limiting calculations. That is the important part.

    3. I repeat: Croix is totally impotent to affect your reputation one iota. His downvotes won't "dilute" your existing pile of downvotes, allowing others to give you more downvotes before they are limited, etc.

    4. I regularly run a script -- which means "no human error or effort" -- which takes ALL banned CathInfo members and:

    A) Deletes all their up/downvotes
    B) Deletes all their anonymous posts

I don't have to remember each banned user -- the database goes through and does ALL of them automatically.

Why? What do these things have in common? They are anonymous, and I don't want non-members (CI ex-members, or those who are NOT members in good standing) to contribute to the ANONYMOUS zeitgeist of CathInfo. Named posts are different, because there is no "nameless, faceless CathInfo" -- every single post has a name, and the posts are attributed to the authors. Only an idiot would attribute them to "cathinfo" as if the software or website had anything to do with composing them. A post by "John Public" reflects on John Public 100% and Cathinfo about 0%. But anonymous posts could be anybody, which is why I don't allow them to remain once a person is an ex-member.

By the way, any SIGNIFICANT anything has bad apples. Any Church, any nation, any city, any forum -- you can't be significant and not have bad apples in your number. But that's beside the point, because I already made the decision that I don't want Croix on the forum, but he doesn't respect my decision and keeps coming back.

  • Thank you for your repeated efforts, Matthew.  I for one appreciate it!  I'm only sorry that you have to have the aggravation on top of your (probably) already busy life.

  • Thanks, Matthew.  This guy has just become a total nuissance.  OK, so now we know that he's been using a VPN to avoid IP banning.

I would have responded sooner ... except I went to the 4:00 PM SSPX Mass in Girard, OH ... and I was already out the door when this post came in.

    He's had at least 5-6.

Obama hot dogs was likely him also.

He also used Judith something or other.

But there are many more that I've forgotten.

He rarely goes 2-3 days before signing up for a new account.

  • I’ll bet “ralgul” is him too.

  • I think people put too much value into upvotes, downvotes, and "reputation" on this forum. It's only the internet. It's not real. It has no bearing on your soul or your ability to live temporal life. People who complain about how people downvotes them really need to examine their priorities in life.

BTW, ralgul is another Croix account.  This guy has mental problems.

Sorry, just saw this.  You are correct, sir.

It's getting to the point of possibly warranting some legal action against this guy.

Anonymous downvoting is the epitome of effeminacy.

  • Yep, I just got about 15 down votes. Very effeminate, maybe he really isn’t a male?

Yes, very much a female trait. Strange that he attacks ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs and Jєωs so much.

So why is anonymous downvoting even a part of this forum?
It is a tool constantly and zealously used by Croix/ Ralgul - basically, also all his incarnations - and also used by any other infiltrators who are assigned to this forum to ensure it is kept as unfriendly place a place as possible for any normal traditional Catholics that want to venture here.
I was driven off this forum partly because of the infiltrator elements: the downvoting, and the arguing, and the rants against gαys and Jєωs*. Now I see those are probably the work of the regulars on this site who are forum infiltrators and that is exactly what they are here for. (I say "they", but it certainly could be the work of just one). Maybe there are no forums for Catholics to share on that are not infiltrated. No place not made into a place that one is ashamed to belong to, because of the ugliest crudest kinds of rants and the constant arguing with these guys, who take delight in it, since they are here to to argue. Maybe there is no place not full of ugly accusations by the tolerated infiltrators.
This particular trad forum's ugliness has it's trademark anonymous downvoting. Ralguls recent downvote on my cosmetic post doesn't bother me, because now I know where it comes from. But if being on this forum means constant exposure to his posts, I am shying away again. (Of course, that's his whole goal).  But the secret-downvoting feature really it does make it unfriendly to new posters, so I really don't know why Matthew choses to keep this feature on this site.
    ______
*So, the work of our well-tolerated infiltrators on this site works!
I grew up in a suburb with a large Jєωιѕн population.  All cultural people groups have their particular positives and negatives, but I tend to see the positives in people, and as these folks are a part of my past memories I have a fondness for them, and their ways. Also recently a colleague mentioned to me, "my son and his partner" and I could only feel compassion for her as a mother. No mother wants their child mocked and scorned. And no, I did not talk about sin, as she has never invited that topic of conversation to be a part of our collegial relationship.
And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Good question.  Beats me. I don't mind downvoting per se; I just don't think it should be anonymous.

Please, point to the place on the doll where the downvoting/forum infiltrators touched/hurt you.

There is definitely an ugliness to this forum.  However, I do not believe it lies exclusively with anonymous downvoting.  In addition to a few thin-skinned, there are several other posters who could do well with practicing St. Paul's call to charity in 1 Corinthians 13.

    Just sayin.

When you are new and the forum is unfamiliar, you look for feedback to see if you are fitting in with the unfamiliar group. Normally in a forum you don't get a barrage of negative feedback as soon as you start.  In real life, I don't, but this forum is different.  But it's like drivers behind dark glass. They can be very rude, because no one sees them. They bask in their anonymity.  Some are anonymous so they can be candid. Others, so they can be free to be unkind.
And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
