Is it possible for Matthew to screen new members before they can post or make it so a member must be a full member before they can leave down votes? I’ll bet 90% of my downvotes are from this fruitcake.

1. Make voting public, affixing the username to the vote. I've seen such votes tallied on the bottom of posts of other forums

The Following * Users Say Thank You to * For This Useful Post:

The Following * Users Dislike This Post By *:

2. Keep track of the total number of upvotes and downvotes one has given in their user profile, that way you'll see if they're on a mission to dislike posts
3. List the most upvoted member and most downvoted member in one's user profile, akin to showing the member you most admire vs the member you most disagree with
Great suggestions!

Several other boards put all new members with less than 50 posts in a place called Purgatory or Probation where they can post replies and start new threads, but they cannot give down votes.

For all new members and for those on probation for forum infractions, the main board is read-only.

However, all members have access to Purgatory where regular members can interact with the newbies by starting new threads and replying to posts on the Probation board. Whereas regular members can give upvotes and downvotes in Purgatory, newbies and probationers cannot.

If it is obvious that certain newbies and probationers will not fit in with with forum members, then they can be banned.

Yeah, Croix still has at least 2, perhaps 3, active accounts (I know which ones).  This guy is like whack-a-mole.  Whack-a-Croix.

Sounds like good suggestions, too. Then, maybe when they get out of purgatory, some forum members, the ones who are good with stats and noticing things* - like you seem to be, and also Ladislaus seems to be - can watch for the telltale trends, like, the downvotes that start piling up whenever they are online.  And, if Matthew would be alert to listen to that particular trustworthy feedback, then maybe the probably-inevitable forum-infiltration could finally be noticeably minimized.

* I am not so good at that, but, I am good at recognizing the same "voice" of a poster who gives himself different identities, and once I recognize that, I can look back and identify the patterns that fed my intuition on the matter. You seem good at this. So, when I do notice such a thing, I will give you feedback, if you want. Or, if you are noticing something, and want an extra opinion, opinion, I will be happy to look at what you noticed if you want. That said, the reason I have ventured back on of late is because of the virus-situation's sudden gift of time, and the time-consuming analyzing of imposters probably can't happen when my life ramps up again...
