  • A chronicle of the Cristeros War (1926-1929), which was touched off by a rebellion against the Mexican government's attempt to secularize the country

  • I really hope it has an accurate, Catholic (thus true) viewpoint to it, and isn't meant for entertainment only. I'm VERY interested in it.

I'm kind of impressed with Andy Garcia's personal appreciation for the role.

Of course, Verastugui sp? is seriously traditionalist and I can't help but think that his love of the Faith won't leave a mark on the producers of the film.  I'm guessing that the producers chose him for that reason..

I hope this inspires a lot of Mexican Americans to embrace their faith more intensely.

They could be a huge boon and sign of hope to us who love the Church

  • I agree AB, it would be nice for my fellow Mexicans to embrace their faith as much as many of their forefathers were willing to. Its seems, though, that now they have allowed themselves to be convinced that their faith was pushed on them and they should try to find their 'true' heritage and go back to their pagan religions and traditions. Unfortunately, I blame much of their acceptance of this stance on the weakness Vatican II has enabled, and encouraged.

  • Yeah, I have a feeling that we could make the Bishops regret campaigning for immigration reform by inspiring the Mexicans to return to the Faith in a big way.

Imagine the next time the Bishop wants to ram some sex ed down our throats the way the Masons tried to do that in Mexico in the 20s, and the Bishop gets a huge drop in donations and a personal phonecall from the Vatican to be on the next flight to the Leonardo da Vinci di Fiumcino.
