First of all...I am not sure if Benedict really said this or not. But I have read that benedict is an authoritarian liberal which is a tendency towards communism.

Second, if Benedict said this, I would like to know if this has become Catholic Doctrine. Until I know for a fact that it has become Catholic Doctrine, I will disagree with this idea.

Third, I think communism is a sin, and without Capitalism....other places in the world would starve to death because there would be no wealthy people to donate to them. In a communist system, mankind (as a whole) will never reach its maximum potential. Why? because you are not allowed to be better at something than someone else. Plus there is no incentive to succeed in life when you know you will get the same as everyone else no matter what. Communism is terrible. Free-Market capitalism is the only way to go.

Capitalism is a sin. So is Socialism and Communism. The proper political philosophy for Catholics loyal to the teachings of the Magisterium is called Distributism. I suggest you look at the life and writings of Dorothy Day and peruse a website called Distributist Review.

Does anyone think Our Lord would have approved of excessive wealth.  There is no indication in the Gospels that I can see that He would have.

Neither Jesus nor the Old Testament ever argued against the accuмulation of wealth. They simply urged the wealthy to be charitable with it.
