  • Never seen nor heard of this. Impossible to fake.

    Must be a sort of explanation. The edges of the ice moving is
    as sharp as knives.

    Perhaps all those that thumb me down on an another thread on
    ice can search their brains for an explanation.

    However, I did not hear any wind on the video.  Unless this particular
    video was doctored.  Very smart amateurs are capable of.

    I saw this exact phenomena in March of 1986 in Sackets Harbor, New York on the shore of Lake Ontario.  It was caused by a combination of the ice breaking up in spring thaw and a very strong wind.  It sounds like hundreds of windows breaking at once.
     St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.
