True, but also, depends on his staet in life-single guy, time on his hands or out of work? marreid? children? etc......
Fair enough and I take your point. However I know that I and probably many others could easily find more time to pray that we otherwise waste. Lets presume the best about this person (not saying that YOU arent doing that).
Clovis, the "acquaintance friend" isn't here, and we don't even know his name. We are having a discussion about a person in a given situation. This isn't the place for "charity" "thinking the best about someone", etc.
By "this isn't the place for charity" I mean THIS is where we should focus on the Truth only, not worrying about someone's feelings, etc. which you would normally do with a PERSON -- whether you're chatting online or talking in person.
That's why the name was left off. On a message board, we have abstract, philosophical discussions about Catholicism, the correct path, etc.
When it comes to individuals, you always have to think the best, make excuses for their behavior, etc. I would certainly never be rude or uncharitable to someone in person. Anyone who knows me is well aware of that.
I realize that this "abstract situation" has a soul out there in this case, but I could care less about the state of his soul. I'm leaving his soul completely alone. I'm using this situation as a chance to tell people out there about the proper action regarding duties of state vs piety.
That's what a message board is for -- and the mistake you made is ALL TOO COMMON. I've seen it a million times -- mostly on FE.
