  • Are there any specific Catholic trad apostolates that specialize in or at least include going out spreading the word door to door -- actual face to face?
Fr. Pfeiffer does!  ;) Unfortunately his end was in search of money, not towards evangelization.

  • I'll add this: when people criticize CathInfo, they are usually talking about the Crisis in the Church subforum -- or the Anonymous subforum. I have heard almost zero criticism over the past 12 years about the contents of "Catholics Living in the Modern World", "The Sacred", or any of the other sub-fora on CathInfo.
As a couple of posters have already pointed out, the flat earth subforum is the quintessential useless topic and one that I expect to bring more and more criticism against CI as time goes on.  The Crisis subforum, while it often becomes overly heated or arcane, at least discusses matters that are intrinsically important to the faith.

I'm not sure how much work it would take to look at the numbers, but I suspect the proportion of flat earth posts here does not reflect the topic's worth and significantly adds to the impression that the forum spends too much time on the useless.

  • When I went to Mass for Ascension, I caught myself feeling disappointed that it was a Low Mass rather than High.

I prefer Low Mass to High most of the time.

  • Not everyone has be to interested in the same topics.

    [/thread]

Some people are entertained by abstract speculations in the same way that others might enjoy listening to music or watching a movie.  I am very much inclined that way.  What's wrong with that?

I am interested in these types of questions because they eventually shed light on Catholic principles.  Trying to apply principles to specific cases, even if they might be outlandish, helps you to understand the principles.

I am very intellectually curious about the shape of the planet (globe or flat), despite the fact that I know it has no bearing on my salvation.  While some people might watch "The Sound of Music" (yuck) one evening, I'd prefer to watch a docuмentary regarding flat earth or other things that interest me.

  • Theological matters interest me more than trivialities and I like it that I can post my thoughts anonymously in topics which I would never discuss with anyone in "real life". So I come to Cathinfo for academic discussions mainly. They are not useless to me.
I remember being surprised when you joined the mob on the old Archbishop Lefebvre forum attacking me for suggesting gender-segregated forums. Even Telesphorus, of all people, buckled under and starting attacking me. After I left he conceded that I was correct to notice a strong streak of feminism over there. Not just the Fisheaters type of trad, but even in otherwise reliably orthodox trads such as yourself. I had a couple other people in PMs agree with me that the attack was bizarre.

Theology isn't really for women, or even most men. That you've always exhibited an interest in theology should have been a warning sign for me. I was naive.

Some would have people believe that I'm a deceiver because I've used various handles on different Catholic forums. They only know this because I've always offered such information, unprompted. Various troll accounts on FE. Ben on SuscipeDomine. Patches on ABLF 1.0 and TeDeum. GuitarPlucker, Busillis, HatchC, and Rum on Cathinfo.

  • I never spent much time on Angelqueen but, if I'm remembering correctly, it was one forum (no subforums) for all threads, regardless of topic. I like that idea, but don't know how practical it would be in action.

I have seen quite a few women comment that the women only subforum is their favourite part of CI.  It is probably mine too, although I have been mainly posting elsewhere lately.

Men and women tend to have different interests and communication styles, although I am not sure that complete segregation is needed.  I like the way that CI allows for both mixed and segregated discussions, but I don't see anything wrong with suggesting it.
