    this is touching

Touching??  It's disgusting the pictures on the front page of that article. (of course I'm referring to the first couple photos of scandalous dressed lady).

You could have chosen a more appropriate article on the story to post.  Shame on you!!

  • Well, I'd bet many are now 'grateful for every second they have life'. Hopefully the survivors and all within ear shot of this story will convert and realize the grave importance of sanctifying grace.

A thumb down for saying everyone should realize the grave importance of sanctifying grace?  Reminds me of the time my wife got a thumb down for posting a prayer.  Makes a person wonder who is Catholic on this site.

  • One of the things I like most about this site is the people from so many different countries...I was really amazed and impressed with the flags from India, Iran, Romania, and even Russia!  Love it!  I'd love to buy the world a Coke....!

Lethargic reply?  Remember that the next time you go throwing one of your juvenile whining tantrums about the thumbs down you receive.
Hey who gave you 2 ignores?  Guess now you can add a 3rd to your collection.

Yes thank you jman. And please accept my apology for my rash comment and tone.  I was just taken aback when I clicked on the story to read and saw those first couple photos.  I reacted in haste.

Of course you are right, and as morningstar also said we should all be prepared.  We know not the day nor the hour.

Again, I apologise.  God bless you.

  • This Colorado theater massacre is the most senseless thing of this kind I have seen.
Maybe when the details are released from the investigation there will be something
to take note of, but that might not be for 2 or 3 years. There could be a court trial,
and the evidence will be held back until then.

One thing's for sure: it's a 16 theater complex, and it's privately owned, therefore,
the owner is going to go out of business. The theater is shut down for collecting
evidence, and there's no way he could have had sufficient insurance to cover the
length of time he'll be closed. And why would anyone want to go to a movie there
again, after this? Looking for trouble? This theater is now uninsurable, due to the
fact of what has happened. Add to that, a lot of commercial liability insurance
excludes acts of war or civil unrest and the like. You can be sure his insurance
company is looking for every reason NOT to cover him.

And what did the owner do? We don't really know, but if he's like other theater
owners, he's just trying to provide a product, pay his bills, and stay out of BK.

The movies in distribution are being recalled, and the opening scenes that have
some gunfire, and such like violence, are being cut. The entire movie might have to
be re-made, and it will probably never draw the box office receipts it could have if
not for this shooting incident. Everyone whose work went into making and
distributing the film now suffers a loss, and all the film's investors lose big time.

Movie theaters are already very expensive to attend, and it's not a profitable
business to run a theater. I know of several such multi-plexes in my area, and the
managers who run them are of very meager means. They are not prosperous.

If nationwide theaters now have to add security measures (which cost $) then the
already-pricey tickets will get pricier. If you now pay $8-10for a movie, you'd be
paying $11-15. Who, but the really addicted, will keep going?

I know a woman who goes to a movie every day, because she "really likes it."
    That's obsession, not enjoyment. $300 a month for movies?? $3,600 a year??

There were several victims' families saying they don't want to see the face of the
perpetrator (if everyone calls him that, his defense lawyer can claim he can't get
a fair trial because he's already convicted, so we should be saying, "the accused!"
-- more political correctness for you) on the news, and they don't want to hear
his name. They say this is all about the victims.

Meanwhile, we're here worried about a persecution of Catholics, and now it looks
like everyone is going to be persecuted, regardless of religion.

  • I'm just as appalled (& maybe even more so) that parents nowadays would bring 6 year olds & even babies to such a movie (& at midnite yet!) as the shooting itself.  Are these images & entertainment what normal American parents are putting in these little ones' minds & 'entertaining' them with today?  If so we are in for a very wild ride.  The worst is yet to come I fear.

  • From Jessica Ghawi's June 5 blog post, after surviving the Toronto shooting, only
a few weeks prior to the Colorado massacre, where she was to die:

'I can’t get this odd feeling out of my chest. This empty, almost sickening feeling won’t go away. I noticed this feeling when I was in the Eaton Center in Toronto just seconds before someone opened fire in the food court. An odd feeling which led me to go outside and unknowingly out of harm‘s way. It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around how a weird feeling saved me from being in the middle of a deadly shooting.
    ...

'I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders’ faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don’t know when or where our time on Earth will end. When or where we will breathe our last breath. For one man, it was in the middle of a busy food court on a Saturday evening.

'I say all the time that every moment we have to live our life is a blessing. So often I have found myself taking it for granted. Every hug from a family member. Every laugh we share with friends. Even the times of solitude are all blessings. Every second of every day is a gift. After Saturday evening, I know I truly understand how blessed I am for each second I am given.

'I feel like I am overreacting about what I experienced. But I can’t help but be thankful for whatever caused me to make the choices that I made that day. My mind keeps replaying what I saw over in my head. I hope the victims make a full recovery. I wish I could shake this odd feeling from my chest. The feeling that’s reminding me how blessed I am. The same feeling that made me leave the Eaton Center. The feeling that may have potentially saved my life.'

    Jessica's Twitter thumbnail photo:

When Catholics pray together, do they also hug in a circle? I've known some
charismatics who do that, but that's all...

What's a Catholic to do when others accustomed to this practice invite him to
join them? By participating, it gives the impression that you approve of their
beliefs. Is that pleasing to God?
