    From the article:

On Monday (Nov. 11), Francis spoke out against corruption, quoting Jesus from the Gospel of St. Luke: “It would be better for (the corrupt man) if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea.”

Interesting how he would quote this, and speak about the Mafia, but it's not "the corrupt man" that Jesus is talking about here. He leaves out the last part which says, "than SCANDALIZE one of my little ones." Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Luke 17: 1-2 And he said to his disciples: It is impossible that scandals should not come: but woe to him through whom they come. It were better for him, that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should scandalize one of these little ones.
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • I know! I was on about the other part of the story (Frank calling out Calabrian and Sicilian families for laundering with HIS clergy, instead of Frank sussing out his clergy and doing with them what he wants —it takes two to tango, as Bergoglio obviously knows, so if it's of such a concern to him, it should be a simple matter for him to defrock the guilty clergy; no problems then).

But I saw this part near the bottom of the story, and realized he'd taken what Our Lord said completely out of context.

There are times I think Bergoglio has truly never read or understood the Gospels. (Forget the rest of Holy Scriptures and Tradition.) That would be preferable to the alternative (that he knows Scriptures inside-out and purposefully twists holy words to his will, which is apparently to end world hunger).

I now think that this part (bungling the Gospel) is a bigger deal than the media stirring the pot against Southern Italians and Sicilians, based on speculation that the mafia is going to put Frank on ice.

EVERY time I write that, The Godfather music pops into my head. And I liked The Godfather music.

When +Fellay complained the he was "taken out of context" (when he
wasn't at all, really) it showed that he is capable of making that
complaint.  But here is the Pope, taking Our Lord's words out of
context, but +Fellay has no complaint about that?  Isn't that a bit odd?

I have met a person, not too recently, who confided in me that he was
having a lot of trouble reading and understanding the Bible.  He said that
he was not able to get anything out of it.  He could read a page and not
know what he had just read, and then read it again and it would not seem
to be familiar at all, as though he had never read it before -- but he just
had read it a few moments before.  So he had come to Mass to see if
hearing the priest read Scripture would help, but it hadn't.  He said that
he could sit there and listen to the Epistle and the Gospel and the
Sermon, and none of it would make any sense to him.

I had a nice, long conversation with him, and he made sense to me, for
he was able to respond to my questions and give details in context of
our discussion, and he was genuinely sad and actually close to despair.

It was at a NovusOrdo church (St. Euphrasia in Granada Hills, actually),
where the pastor and the assistant and the visitor priest who was there
at the time were not easy to talk to at all, so I couldn't really refer him
to the priests.  Nor was I aware of the TLM at that time.

His feeling of despair was effectively contagious!  I was starting to feel
sad myself, just listening to his complaints.  I met him on three occasions
there and then never saw him again since then, and I have no idea what
    has happened to him.

Since those sad days, I have asked various priests about this man, and
they have no answer for me.  I don't know where to find the man
anymore, so this experience has lain dormant for years, but now I see
we have a Pope who seems to have the same problem with
comprehension, only he seems to be ENTHUSIASTIC with his own
    ignorance!

It comes as a bizarre twist that I should see these two people over the
years, and it is rather weird that we should now have a Pope whose
apparent  inability to appropriately use Scripture
    is reminiscent
to me of this strange man from years ago.

I completely agree.  A pope who consistently gets it WRONG when he
talks about Scripture is most disturbing.

Can anyone post a sermon of this man, erstwhile Bergoglio, where he
ever once quotes Scripture and comments on it making any sense
    whatsoever??

Every example I have seen with him referring to Scripture is
an example of him using the Bible for his own purposes to
take quotes as if to support what he's preaching about, but
the quotes he uses are entirely inappropriate for the topic for
which he most CLUMSILY attempts to use them.

It's really kind of bizarre and pathetic, come to think of it.

Having a pope who bungles the Gospel as if it's some kind of sport to
do so, is actually a DIRECT ASSAULT ON THE DOCTRINE OF PAPAL
INFALLIBILITY.  It makes anyone who believes that the pope has the
power of infallibility within his reach seem to be an abject idiot.

That is a much "bigger deal" than the media is making it out
    to be,
with their allusion to some manner of offense to the
sensibilities of certain southern Italians and Sicilians.

  • I think he is combining the abuse of financial and moral corruption and what should be done with those who give scandal.
