Father Wolfgang Ockenfels:  The dominant psychologizing tone within the Church , the stilted emotional forms, and the vague double meanings are  becoming a great nuisance  -- and leading to a crisis of ecclesiastical credibility.

(kreuz.net)The Pope encountered a "seemingly demoralized and confused" society in his Germany visit.
He deems it "urgently in need of orientation".

The Domincan, Father Wolfgang Ockenfels (64) explained on the 22nd of September in the midst of Benedict XVIs visit to Germany.

The article appeared in the polemical Berlin weekly 'Junge Freiheit'.

Father Ockenfels is a publicist.  He teaches Christian Social Ethics in the Theological Faculty in Trier.

  • What is so tragic is that it's taken this long for any of these Novus Ordites to figure all this out.

It was apparent in the mid-1970s, when I was a young boy, that there was a wishy-washy, noncommittal attitude permeating the churches where the Faith used to be taught.

What happened in the churches has also happened in US secular society... people are being asked to be 'patriotic' without insisting on recognizing the sovereignty of the United States as an independent nation.

Think about it... the symbols on our currency, the government buildings, the monuments to Presidents... all being replaced by things that one can be proud of even without a free nation. National parks, musical and artistic culture, natural landmarks... all of these are things that people can enjoy and be happy about without all of the iconography that wordlessly states our independence and status as a nation.

In the churches these days, there are flannel banners with stylized doves on them, announcing 'peace'. There are all sorts of ugly, modern-art-influenced statues and paintings, all of them meant to remind the people of the saints, but not to remind them of the AUTHORITY of Holy Church.

I know of a shrine where the halls are lined with statues of people like St. Francis Xavier, St. John Vianney, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Dominic and other great defenders of the Faith.

Nowadays, if you even get to see statuary in the church buildings, you get to see MAYBE Our Lady, perhaps St. Therese of Lisieux... nice, gentle and finished in muted colors, tucked away in an alcove or a stairwell.

The Modernists want to insist upon relativity and ecuмenism; what will once again revolutionize and save souls is the DOGMATIC and AUTHORITATIVE stance of the ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC and APOSTOLIC CHURCH steadfastly and unflinchingly declaring the KINGSHIP of Jesus Christ and the UNIQUE and UNASSAILABLE position of His Church as THE ROCK of salvation.

St. Peter, Prince of Apostles, pray for us.

Lord Jesus Christ, King and High Priest, have mercy on us.
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar

Is it not enough that you are the boss that teaches equality but has veto right in everything? the model of perfection, the standard bearer, the god worshiped by all who claim freedom, humanity and knowledge, the light bearer to a world of darkness, the well spring of all sciences?
No one can be free unless he is your slave,
No one can be healed from folly unless he submits his intelligence to you.
It is astonishing how even Jesus Christ the God Himself could make 70 million people adore Him that zealously!

  • @spouse:

I'm assuming that you're referring to the US President here... I, a nobody in this world, certainly don't deserve that sort of invective weighed against me!

I'm not quite sure what you meant...

  •   You were speaking about a nation, I too addressed a nation and culture as a whole.
Sorry if I offended you. I didn't want to spoil this thread.
