I could really relate to this:

It was nearly three months ago that I wrote Chopped Liver No More after I had discovered that had been smeared by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a "hate" group. Group? The number of people who support the work of this website can fit into minivan. Group? The Christophobes at the Southern Poverty Law Center cannot even count, it appears. Group?

Not unsurprisingly, I never received a response from the man, one Mr. Richard Todd, at Fox 19 News in Cincinnati, Ohio, who posted on the Fox 19 News website what appeared to be a press release from the Southern Poverty Law Center on March 9, 2012, after I sent him the following e-mail on Easter Saturday, April 14, 2012, the day that I discovered the posting:

Dear Mr. Todd:

I have, by sheer happenstance, come upon a news story with your byline dated March 9, 2012.

As one who is a trained academic and has a great deal of experience in investigative journalism, I find it very interesting that you printed (and perhaps broadcast) a story carrying a gratuitous assertion about my writing made by the notoriously anti-Catholic Southern Poverty Law Center without even bothering to contact me. Are the assertions of the Southern Poverty Law Center infallible and beyond criticism? Are their supposed "haters" to be denied any opportunity to refute these baseless accusations?

First of all, my website is not a "group." It is the continuation of the work that began with a printed journal of the same name in 1996. Although there are about five hundred "unique" visitors to my site each day, only about three hundred people, at the very most, bother to read my articles.

Second, for the Southern Poverty Law Center to be correct, Mr. Todd, then Saint Peter himself would have been guilty of "hate" when he exhorted the Jєωs who heard his discourse on Pentecost Sunday to convert to the Catholic Faith. Three thousand did so. This is not "hate." This is the fulfillment of the mission that the Divine Redeemer had given the Eleven before He Ascended to the Father's right hand in glory on Ascension Thursday, forty days after His Easter victory over sin and death by means of His Resurrection.

Third, you seem to be misinformed about the Immemorial Mass of Tradition as it is in se a refutation of the the "Second" Vatican Council, which is why it had to be eradicated and why those groups that are "permitted" to offer a modernized version of it must remain silent about apostasies that many within the structures of the conciliar structure recognize are offensive to God and harmful to souls.

Permit me to send you a link to an article of mine written over five years ago now that referred to an earlier Christophobic effort on the part of the Southern Poverty Law Center to smear traditional Catholic groups that adhere to nothing other than the immutable teaching of the God-Man that formed the very foundation of civilization for over a thousand years as various barbaric tribes and pagan peoples were converted to Catholicism in Europe and elsewhere: Hating Without Distinction. It is a long article. You may not have the time or the inclination to read it. In the interest of the slogan "fair and balanced," Mr. Todd, I think that the least you can do is to include a link to this article as it is my definitive refutation of the attempts by the Southern Poverty Law Center to intimidate Catholics who adhere to the immutable Catholic Faith into silence about what they know to be true.

Permit me to remind you what I wrote in in Chopped Liver No More nearly three months ago now:

What appears to have happened here is this: the Southern Poverty Law Center issued some kind of press release that was run pretty much en toto by Fox 19 News. The information provided to Fox 19 News, no matter the exact form that it took, was accepted entirely uncritically as being unquestionably factual. It is not for nothing that some refer to the "lamestream media."

I should note, though, that it was"sheer happenstance" that I found the Fox 19 News report only on the natural level. It was solely within the Providence of God that  I did so.

Well, here I sent, right smack at three o'clock in the morning on Low Sunday, in a old recliner chair in a small living room of a manufactured house. Some kid of "group." Well, Chase, our four year-old beagle is asleep near a sofa within an arm's reach of my chair. Perhaps he is part of the "group." Maybe it's my wife and daughter who are fast asleep. Maybe it's the few of you who read these articles, people scattered about the world, many of whom don't even agree with what I. write! Some group.

The fact that Mr. Todd could take seriously the gratuitous assertions of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is notorious for seeking to make money off of its "special alerts" and "intelligence reports" as it seeks to intimidate "radical traditional Catholics" from even expressing themselves in defense of the immutable teaching of the Catholic Church, without even sending an e-mail by way of asking me to comment simply makes the point that I have made repeatedly on this site: that those who reject the Sacred Divinity of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and hate the very mention of His Name, no less of the doctrine of His Social Kingship over men and their nations, control the "mainstream media" to such an extent that their assertions about various "hate groups" are taken at face value without even doing those accused the simple benefit, if even perfunctory, of a request for comment.

Ah, yes, Fox News, "fair and balanced."

I think not.

I waited eighteen days before drafting a letter on May 2, 2012, to the General Manager of Fox 19 News, Bill Lanesey, which I sent first a longtime friend of mine, attorney Thomas W. Condit of Norwood, Ohio, to have him vet it for me before forwarding it to Mr. Lanesey with an excellent cover letter of his own. Here is the text of the letter, which Mr. Condit  mailed to Mr. Lanesey on June 2, 2012:

Dear Mr. Lanesey:

I am sending this letter to you through the good offices of attorney Thomas W. Condit as my reputation has been very gravely damaged by a story that was posted by one Richard Todd on the Fox 19 website on March 9, 2012. I do not know whether the posted news story was broadcast as we do not have television. Indeed, I only found out about the posting by complete happenstance, being very shocked to discover what appears to be a press release of some kind issued by the Southern Poverty Law Center was taken at face value without any effort to interview me and ascertain my reaction to the accusation made against me.

I wrote to Mr. Todd on Saturday, April 14, 2012. To this date, Mr. Lanesey, I have received no response. The report in and of itself is completely irresponsible. The fact that Mr. Todd has not seen fit even respond to my e-mail further compounds this assault on my reputation as it would appear that I am supposed to be guilty as charged without any chance of explanation.

It is a very serious matter in today’s highly charged environment of political correctness to be charged with running a “hate group,” especially since (a) I have no “group” and (b) it is not to preach any kind of hatred to adhere to the immutable teaching of the Catholic Church to seek the conversion of all people, including Jєωs, to her maternal bosom just as the first Pope, Saint Peter, did on Pentecost Sunday. Disputes about ecuмenism’s fidelity to the mission that the Divine Redeemer, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, gave to the Apostles before He Ascended to the Father’s right hand in glory on Ascension Thursday, are not resolved by those who do not belong to the Catholic Church, people who are not the arbiters of what is or is not orthodox Catholic doctrine.

Appended below is my letter to Mr. Richard Todd.

It is my hope that I will be given an opportunity by Fox 19 News to present my convictions, realizing that I am subject to criticism by others while at the same time rejecting the false characterization made of my work by a group known to vilify and castigate members of a religion of which they are not members and whose doctrines, therefore, they have no qualifications to comment.

Well, again unsurprisingly, I did not hear back from Mr. Lanesey for over a month, at which point I contacted Mr. Condit once more to ask him how to proceed. He told me that he would simply call Mr. Lanesey's office to try to secure a response. This is the response that I received from a Miss Rachel Folz on Tuesday, July 3, 2012:

Good afternoon Dr. Droleskey,

I am sorry for our delayed response to your originally query.

After reviewing your attorney’s letter and the article in question, we are going to stand by the post. The entire article is attributed to SPLC. However, if you’d like a comment to be place in the body of the story, I would be happy to do so; just email it to me.

After drafting a response and checking with Mr. Condit about it, I sent Miss Folz the following e-mail on Thursday, July 5, 2012:

 

"According to the prejudices of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Saint Peter himself, the first pope, would be consider the leader of a 'hate' group and and an αnтι-ѕємιтє for seeking the conversion of his own people to the Catholic Faith on Pentecost Sunday and thereafter. Saint Stephen the Protomartyr was stoned to death while seeking the conversion of his fellow Jєωs, a stoning presided over by Saul, who was converted by Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself while on the road to Damascus. Is Christ the King Himself an αnтι-ѕємιтє for seeking the conversion of Saul to the Catholic Faith?

"The contention made by the Southern Poverty Law Center is, therefore, gratuitous, slanderous and without any foundation in fact. It is to 'hate' no one to seek with urgency his unconditional conversion to the Catholic Faith. Furthermore, I am the leader of no 'group.' I have a website that seeks to defend the traditional Catholic teaching that has been under assault by alleged Catholics who have proved themselves to be unfaithful to the mission given by Christ the King to the Apostles before He Ascended into Heaven to convert all men and all nations.

"The Southern Poverty Law Center is incompetent to judge theological disputes among Catholics. There are some rabbis I know who take issue with the Southern Poverty Law Center's support for abortion and other social evils. Are they anti-Semitic as well?

"Fox 19 News would do well to check with those accused before printing such baseless assertions as those made by the Southern Poverty Law Center against me."

Yes, yes, yes. The infallibility of corporate America. My response to Miss Folz was direct and pointed in an e-mail sent on Friday, July 6, 2012:

Yes, Miss Folz, I see that an edited version of my statement has been posted.

It would have been my preference that the statement be run with the concluding observation about Fox 19 News as it has been my practice as an academic researcher/professor and journalist to seek comment from those being criticized. This used to be standard practice in journalism even when I was writing for a local newspaper in Oyster Bay, New York, when in high school in the 1960s. We seem to live in an age when no corporation can admit to being wrong about anything at any time

To be tarred unjustly with the accusation of anti-Semitism can damage a person greatly, especially one in the public domain who is trying to support his family with other work. Fairness and accuracy should, therefore, direct a journalist to check with those accused before any press release or "finding" from a lobbying organization is taken at face value.

This is a "losing" effort on my part. I realize that. However, I have to be faithful to what I know is true, both supernaturally and naturally.

No, I will never cease trying to help others understand that truth, both supernatural and natural, matters and that we it is no shame to admit that one has made an error, whether of fact or of judgment.

The refusal to admit error, is of course, all too common in the corporate world today.

Indeed, Have you ever dealt with a company or corporation whose "customer assistance specialists," whether they be located in this country or "offshore," that insists that the company for whom they have been contracted to work has made no error, that you are wrong, refusing to listen to a simple exercise in reason and logic to explain that it is the company that is in error?  Well, this is but the fruit of the relativism of a world-turned-mad, a world where "corporate persons" believe they, not a true Successor of Saint Peter and His true Church, are infallible as they control the financial fate of hundreds of millions of people.

For example, the bright lights who run the telephone companies that provide directory-assistance information have decided that it is more cost-effective to regionalize their operations. Thus, the products of outcome-based education who are hired to provide you with the telephone number you are requesting are most likely totally ignorant of the area where the person or the business whose number you are trying to find is situated. In most instances, corporate policy requires them to provide a number within nineteen seconds. Consequently, the person who is requesting the information is depersonalized. Gone are the days when the local Bell Telephone Company hired operators familiar with a particular area who were trained to skim and scan through the white pages with the eyes God gave them — a particularly efficient form of providing information and something the old “information operators” took great pride in — so the operator must look up the number in a computerized “file,” which may or may not contain the number you want.

If the computerized file does not contain your number, the operator tells you that the number does not exist (when the actual truth of the matter is that the telephone number you want is not listed in that particular system). If you try to explain that the number does exist (perhaps you had just gotten it but failed to write it down), you are considered to be a crank who must be cut off immediately. The line goes dead as you are, in effect, aborted. The relativism that guides corporate America has taught employees to believe only what is found in a computer file. Any argument to the contrary must not be brooked, as “reality” for one particular corporation is what it says it is, the actual facts of a matter notwithstanding.

As is the case with almost every major corporation in the country, employees who deal with customers are no longer courteous and respectful. Common sense? Perish the thought. Employees have been trained not to think for themselves. Considering the customer to be a distinct human being made in the image and likeness of God? Come on, there are profits to be made and realities to be maintained. Customers must be “talked down” when they present problems to customer-service representatives. That is, employees are taught never to admit that the corporation is wrong. That would be fodder for lawsuits and bad publicity, after all. Thus, employees are taught to wear the customer down by stonewalling him so much that he just gives up in frustration. Truth is what the corporation says it is. Plain facts must be denied.

Thus it is that Fox 19 News's refusals to admit error in not contacting me prior to the posting of the Southern Poverty Law Center press release that targets me as a "radical traditionalist" when I am simply a Catholic who, despite his many sins and failings, is seeking to defend the immutable truths of the Catholic Church that have been under attack by the conciliar revolutionaries precisely to please the likes of those who run the Southern Poverty Center an the Anti-Defamation League of B'Nai Brith and not Christ the King is just par for the course in the world today.

By the way, I sent Mr. Thomas W. Condit an e-mail on Friday, July 6, 2012, to ask whether he wanted me to reference on this site the assistance that he gave me on this matter, explaining that my overall "reputation" is in shatters, that I am hated by many people all across and up and down the vast expanse of the ecclesiastical divide in this time of apostasy and betrayal. He gave me permission, reminding me that he is, of course, the brother of Mr. James Condit, Jr., who has ran afoul of the thought police from time to time in his courageous defense of Christ the King in the public sector and his fearless opposition to Our King's ancient enemies I wrote back to say that my reputation is worse that his older brother's, something he said could be debated. Let's put it you this way, however: Jim Condit, Jr., still gets invited to conferences to speak. I am not on anyone's list for such a role these days. Well, I have to correct myself. I did get that unsolicited invitation as a result of that Fox 19 News online posting that I turned down without any hesitation at all (see To Advocate Christ The King, Nothing Else).

No, I think my own "reputation" is pretty shot, humanly speaking. Deo gratias!

Actually, this is a good thing it gives us a chance to know the mockery to which our own sins, having transcended time, subjected Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in His Sacred Humanity during His Passion and Death, a mockery that helped to drive the Fourth through Seventh Swords of Sorrow through an through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of His Most Blessed Mother.

It is good to be brought low before men even as we seek not to defend ourselves so much as the duty that have to defend the sacred truths of Christ the King, Whose Most Sacred Hearts beats with love for those outside of His true Sheepfold, the Catholic Church, and who depends upon us to do what the conciliar revolutionaries say is no longer necessary: to seek with urgency the conversion of all non-Catholics. Far from being an act of "hatred," to seek the conversion of non-Catholics, including those who adhere to the тαℓмυd, and to oppose the efforts of those who hate Christ the King to spread evils under cover of the civil law in the name of "tolerance" and "justice" and "rights" is our obligation as baptized and confirmed members of the Catholic Church. It is better to be thought of in the worst terms possible by our fellow men than to be thought ill of by Christ the King at the moment of our Particular Judgment.

A world that rejects Our Lord and the authority of His true Church must create a reality of its own. But it is only the true Faith that guides us to see reality clearly by fixing our gaze always upon the wood of the Holy Cross, upon which our Divine Redeemer saved us by the shedding of every single drop of His Most Precious Blood. We must never waver in our insistence that the world and everyone in it must be converted to the true Faith. For the clarity of vision given us by the Church is the means by which we can see the plain reality that the tendency of human beings to equate themselves with God is what leads to all of the crime and horror and bƖσσdshɛd and dehumanization that are the fruits of all forms of relativism.

Invoking Our Lady’s maternal intercession, may we always stand fast in our efforts to pray and to work for a world wherein the shadow of the Holy Cross defines the reality of who we are — and how we are to treat others as fellow redeemed creatures--as we pray as many Rosaries each day as our state-in-life permits.
