  • Hi,

I was just listening to a talk given on the Catholic site FORMED.org The priest was talking about the Charismatic renewal and being baptized in the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues.  To me this part of his talk sounded very Protestant. I have been to one of these meetings held before Mass and I was very uncomfortable.  I felt like I was present at an Evangelic alter call. People babbling in tongues, raising their arms and swinging to the  music of  a "rock"band. Most upsetting to me was that my favorite Priest was all into it and singing its praises.  Is it just me who thinks this way?

Does the Traditional Church have any teaching on these Charismatic Renewal meetings?

Full disclosure I am a TLM attendee.

    Thanks

Yes.  The Catholic Church condemns all of this.  It is Protestant at best.  It is not Catholic.

  • John Vennari wrote a book about charismaticism actually.

  • The Charismatic renewal is very much into inspiration form the Holy Spirit. There was a lady who posted on Catholic Answers that she went to the TLM for the first time. There she felt very much the presence of the Holy Spirit.

  • There is a video on Sensus Fidelium youtube called On the Errors of Pentacostalim - aka Charismatic Renewal.

    It's a pretty good video.

    Yes, that's right.
He exposed Franciscan U's "holy-roller" activity in Steubenville, Ohio.
    Around 2003 ?

Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

You should be able to find many articles online for free by John  Vennari of Catholic Family News CFN, also Mary Horvath should have many free articles too. Go to Tradition in Action website for Mary Horvath articles and from other authors.
