  • To Chant.

MaterDominici is pigeon holing and censoring posts by confining them in a fashion that I must assume is approved of by you.

This board is obviously just an attempt to snare faithful Catholics into the Novus Ordo.

I wish some more people were around today to enjoy this laugh with me. I'm not sure which part of that was the funniest.

    Stephanos,
If you've been reading the other threads, you know that Chant, my husband, is not here as he's at his father's funeral today.

  • Where did you ever get the idea that censorship is un-Catholic?  The Church is actually quite a big fan of censorship. Freedom of speech is definitely not a Catholic idea. Of course, I myself have no power to censure you, but would that I could!  :fryingpan:

Can you give an example of how Judas is connected with censorship?

If your idea of a message board is just cutting and pasting on subject matters you have no real grasp of I think you might be happier starting a blog. This is a community and people don't take kindly to someone coming along and just pontificating (pun intended) without respect for the normal flow of how a productive discussion can take place. This is true not only for a forum on Catholicism, but even secular topics such as automobiles or vegetable gardening.

Do you have any idea how ignorant and insulting that is? I don't even know of one poster here that attends the N.O., myself included.

  • I am referring to the mockery and uncharitable attitudes.  I cannot see Jesus or Mary responding in this fashion.

  • Jumping in here where I don't belong, Chant, I'm guessing that Stephanos is referring to a fear he may have of being roped back into NO.  He can't know that's not likely here.  I'm not sure he knows that SSPX ers stick to the vatican while abjuring the NO.  As far as I can tell it is an untenable position, but I can accept that you do, so I don't fear you are NO's in disguise.

  • Occasionally moving posts into a more appropriate forum is not censorship; it's merely good forum stewardship. It has to do more with good order than squelching opposing opinions.

If a post is moved where it belongs, how is that censorship?

Anyhow, we don't want to be A) disorganized or B) give the wrong impression about "what you'll find on Cathinfo"

The fact is, we talk about many things here -- not just the Crisis in the Church. Moreover, someone who doesn't want to hear about Sedevacantism, etc. would find interesting articles here. Same for any other topic (Great Depression, WW3, etc.) We have a variety of topics, plain and simple. We have to keep them organized or people won't be able to find anything.

As someone pointed out, even forums about gardening, coin collecting, etc. usually enforce some kind of order -- it's just a good practice.

That being said, we don't exactly sort through every post. We don't have the time, and we would rather err on the side of freedom (rather than lean toward fascism)

    In Christ,

    Matthew

This assertion is WAY off base, Stephanos.

I apologize, Trinity, for what seemed to you an inappropriate response. But, I could not think of an intelligent way to respond to what I saw as childish pouting. For the record, all I did was move and handful of threads--two of which were begun by Stephanos--into the forums which were more suited for the nature of the ongoing conversations. I've done this sort of forum "clean up" before and will continue to do so in the future to maintain some small degree of organization.

I had to laugh when this made him angry enough to call upon my husband to reprimand me.

Forgive me if my post gave you the wrong impression, but his response was much more dramatic than the action called for.

  • I agreed with your move, Mater, and saw the humor in this being a NO forum in disguise, so to speak.  My beef was with John, and by extension, Mike.  I haven't read their complaints closely, but enough to know that they were about style and Stephanos' style is none of their business.  Further it smacks of an ambush.  In any event, Cathinfo has lost a prolific contributer to two basically non contributors' penchant for carping on nonessentials and love of criticism.

I am upset about it because I hate to see people being treated this way and because we are all losers now.  Yesterday was the first Saturday I remember that there was life here and now I suppose it will go back to being dead as a door nail over the weekends.  Dare I hope that Mike and John will make recompense for the damage they've done by filling Stephanos' shoes?  I doubt it.

I suspect that Stephanos got hit in a soft spot or more probably just reached the last straw, which moving the threads represented.  Only he could say, I'm sure, but the gift of hospitality was obviously lacking in some of us.  This is not the first time that self appointed police have quashed the life out of Cathinfo and then sat quietly back and let it struggle.  I consider such people fishy. And come to think of it, they all came from FE.

And did you notice, we had record numbers of guests the last two days?
